Taylor Swift Performs Rarely Heard Song, Gives Powerful Speech at 'reputation Tour' Show

Taylor Swift performs a surprise song every night on her reputation Stadium Tour and the latest one she sang was a rarely-heard track!

The 28-year-old singer performed her song “Tied Together With a Smile” during her show on Saturday (September 1) in Minneapolis, Minn.

Taylor has previously said she wrote the song about a beauty queen who was the most popular girl in her high school, who also suffered from an eating disorder. She reportedly hasn’t performed the song live in over a decade!

In a speech before performing the song, Taylor opened up about the meaning of the song and said some powerful words to fans in the audience.

“One thing I have noticed in my life is you can never judge what somebody else is going through, even if they seem like they have it all together, they seem like, how can they ever have any problems?” Taylor said (via Billboard). “Somebody is maybe really beautiful or seems like they have it all together, maybe they have a life that you’re really envious of.”

“But I’ve learned that appearances aren’t everything,” she continued. “Just because somebody looks happy doesn’t mean they are. Just because somebody looks healthy doesn’t mean they are.”

Taylor Swift Pays Tribute to Aretha Franklin with Moment of Silence at 'reputation Tour' Show in Detroit

Taylor Swift held a moment of silence for Aretha Franklin during a reputation Tour stop in the late singer’s hometown of Detroit on Tuesday (August 28).

Just days ahead of Aretha‘s funeral in Detroit, Taylor paid tribute to her and honored Aretha for the work she did for both women’s rights and civil rights.

β€œLast week we lost an irreplaceable force. Aretha Franklin did so much for music, she did so much for women’s rights, she did so much for civil rights,” Taylor said during the show.

β€œShe was one of those people where no matter what you said, no matter what glowing positive thing you said about her, it would be an understatement. Words could never, ever describe how many things she did in her lifetime that made our world a better place. And this is her home,” Taylor continued. β€œI would like it if we could have a moment of silence so that every single one of us could reflect on our love and respect for her and everything that she did in her life. So if we could please cut the lights, we’ll have a moment of silence for Aretha.”

When the lights came back up, she added, β€œWe love you Aretha.”

A few years ago, Aretha sang “Happy Birthday” to Taylor while attending the same event.
