Ricky Martin steps out with his adorable son Matteo on Friday (January 20) in New York City.

The 40-year-old singer grabbed lunch at Nello and was spotted leaving the Italian restaurant with Matteo and his twin brother Valentino.

Ricky recently opened up about expanding his family, telling Latina he’d love to have a daughter sometime this year “so that [the kids] are not too far apart in ages.”

As for rumors he’s marrying his boyfriend, Carlos Gonzalez Abella, in Spain where gay marriage is legal, Ricky said the two “are not talking about it, we’re not thinking about it.”

“But I’m so happy that in Europe we have the option,” he added. “It’s amazing to think that we can say, ‘I feel like it. I’m ready. Let’s go.’”

On coming to New York to star in Evita: “Che is a really cool character and you can do so much with him. The director said, ‘I don’t want you to just be Che Guevara. Let’s take it to another level. One night you can be him, but the next night I want you to be the taxi driver, the next evening the bartender. Literally, be the voice of the people.’ So I won’t get bored, that’s for sure.”

On releasing his book, “Me”: “[I was] so happy to tell my story. And it was translated into nine languages. The first country that wanted it was Finland, and then it went into Portuguese, French, Italian, Spanish, English, Dutch, and German.”

“Back at work! Starting our next episode with my old friend Ricky Martin!” Lea tweeted from the set. Lea and Ricky go way back to her Broadway days!

“I’ve known Ricky since I’m 8 years old! He was in Les Mis on Broadway with me in 1996! Crazy huh?!” Lea added.

On returning to Broadway in Evita: “The people, the critics, are going to be expecting a lot.It has to be the best…You have to have the attitude that, ‘You know what? No one will stop me,’ ” he says. “It’s going to be a magical year.”

On trying for a little girl: “I think that I’ll do it later on this year, so that [the kids] are not too far apart in ages. A little girl! Dios mío, me muero… But we’re going to talk about that later on. It would be irresponsible to do it now.”

On being closer to his fans since coming out: “They feel more in touch with me and I feel more in touch with them. If I feel free, they’re going to feel free and vice versa. It’s contagious.”

The 39-year-old singer stars as Che, with Argentinean actress Elena Roger making her Broadway debut as Eva and Tony Award winner Michael Cerveris as Juan Peron.

The musical “tells Eva’s passionate and tragic story through Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber‘s most dazzling and beloved score, which includes ‘Don’t Cry for Me Argentina,’ ‘Another Suitcase in Another Hall,’ and ‘High Flying Adored,’ together with ‘You Must Love Me,’ the Oscar-winning hit from the film Evita,” according to a press release.

Previews for Evita begins March 12, 2012 at NYC’s Marquis Theatre with opening night slated for April 5!
