Rihanna & Jay-Z Donate $2 Million to Coronavirus Relief

Rihanna and Jay-Z‘s foundations have together donated $2 million to COVID-19 relief efforts.

Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation (CLF) and the rapper’s Shawn Carter Foundation (SCF) will both be donating to help “undocumented workers, the incarcerated, homeless and elderly populations, and children of frontline healthcare workers,” Rolling Stone reports. The funds will be given to ACLU, New York Immigration Coalition, Mayor’s Fund for L.A. and Fund for Public Schools.

“In times of crisis it is imperative that we come together as one community to ensure that everyone, especially the most vulnerable, has access to critical needs: shelter, health, nutrition and education,” Gloria Carter, Jay-Z’s mother and the CEO of his foundation, said in a statement. “The only way to get through this pandemic is with love and action.”

Rihanna Tells 'British Vogue' She's 'Very Aggressively Working On Music'!

Rihanna is gorgeous in a durag on the cover of the May issue of British Vogue, which will be available via free digital download and on newsstands Friday (April 3)!

Here’s what the 32-year-old entertainer had to share with the mag…

On her imminent new album: “I can’t say when I’m going to drop… but I am very aggressively working on music. I don’t want all my albums to feel like themes. There are no rules, there’s no format, there’s nothing. There’s just good music and if I feel it, I’m putting it out.”

On the possibility of a reggae album: “Oh no, that is happening… I feel like I have no boundaries. I’ve done everything – I’ve done all the hits, I’ve tried every genre – now I’m just, I’m wide open. I can make anything that I want.”

On the success of Fenty Beauty: “I’m shocked by people saying, ‘Oh my god, what made you think of making make-up for black girls? I’m like, What? You thought this was like a marketing strategy? Like I’m a genius? It’s shocking most of the time, then it turns into disappointment that this is groundbreaking right now. In my mind, this was just normal.”

This month, British Vogue is offering a free digital edition of the magazine for the May issue. Readers will be able to access Rihanna‘s British Vogue feature and browse the digital pages, following instructions given on the magazine’s website.

Rihanna's Foundation Gives $5 Million to Fight Coronavirus

Rihanna‘s Clara Lionel Foundation is joining the global fight against coronavirus by giving $5 million to the response efforts.

The funding will be channeled through CLF’s partners at Direct Relief, Partners In Health, Feeding America, the International Rescue Committee, World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund and others.

“Never has it been more important or urgent to protect and prepare marginalized and underserved communities–those who will be hit hardest by this pandemic,” CLF’s executive director Justine Lucas said in a statement.

The funds will be used to support: “Local food banks serving at-risk communities and the elderly in the United States; Acceleration of testing and care in countries like Haiti and Malawi, as well as the mobilization of resources and additional capacity and support for Native communities; Protective equipment for frontline health workers and diagnostic labs, the establishment and maintenance of intensive care units, and acceleration of the development of vaccines and other therapies across the globe; Healthcare worker training, virus prevention and containment in countries that will be on the frontlines of the COVID-19 response; Distribution of critical respiratory supplies.”
