Sonia Rykiel Dead - French Fashion Designer Passes Away at 86

Sonia Rykiel, a French fashion designer, passed away at the age of 86 due to complications from Parkinson’s disease.

The sad news was announced by Élysée Palace, the office of the French president, and her daughter Nathalie, the New York Times reports.

Sonia spent decades designing clothes for women, and retired back in 2009. Her daughter became the company’s president in 2007.

“She is fragile, but strong,” Sonia told the NYT in 1987 about her typical customer. “We are working women. Also, we have the problem of children, of men, to take care of our houses, so many things. I try to explain that in my clothes. They are clothes for everyday life.”

Sonia‘s designs were a favorite among A-list celebrities on the red carpet. We’re sending our thoughts to her loved ones during this time.

Ex-NFL Player Antonio Armstrong & Wife Killed, 16-Year-Old Son Charged with Murder

Antonio Armstrong, a former NFL player for the Miami Dolphins, and his wife Dawn Armstrong are both dead after being shot in their home in Houston, Tex.

The couple’s 16-year-old son has reportedly been charged with their murder, according to NBC News. The shootings happened at 2am on Friday (July 29) and the couple’s two other children were also home at the time.

Dawn died at the scene while Antonio was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head and he succumbed to his injuries there.

“This was an outstanding family. The male of the family was an absolute hard working breadwinner,” Houston police homicide Investigator Jimmy Dodson told KPRC. “He was an associate pastor in the area church. He’s a great guy. The mother was apparently a great mother, according to family members. Like I said, it was kind of the all-American family.”

Antonio was a star player for Texas A&M during his college career and had a short-lived NFL stint in the 1990s with the Miami Dolphins.

We send our thoughts and condolences to the Armstrong family during this difficult time.
