IndyCar Driver Justin Wilson has tragically passed away after suffering a severe head injury on Sunday (August 23).
The 37-year-old race car driver got into a terrible car crash during a race at Pocono Raceway. The race’s leader Sage Karam spun out and caused debris. The debris caused Justin to veer off the course and hit a wall head-on.
“I can’t find the proper words to describe the pain and sympathy I feel for Justin and his family. #RIPJustin” Sage tweeted upon hearing the sad news.
Justin‘s family has released a statement (via E! News), “The family would like to thank the staff at the Lehigh Valley Health Network Cedar Crest Hospital, Pocono Raceway, Andretti Autosport, and the Verixon IndyCar Series as well as the entire racing community for the amazing outpouring of support from fans around the world,” adding that he was a, “loving father and devoted husband.”
Our thoughts go out to Justin‘s friends and loved ones during this time.
