Rita Ora Cancels Her Concert in Bristol Due to Doctor's Orders

Rita Ora steps out for a night on the town on Friday (May 18) in London, England.

The 27-year-old singer celebrated with friends after performing a concert that evening.

Rita had bad news for fans the next day as she had to cancel her show in Bristol on Saturday.

“Okay guys. I’m sorry, this sucks. I hate, hate, hate saying things like this, but I have to cancel my show tonight in Bristol because all the doctors have told me it’s a risk and they have advised me to rest,” Rita said. She apologized to fans and announced a rescheduled show, happening in ten days.

“This is so annoying. There’s nothing worse than canceling a show. I hate it. I absolutely hate it,” she added.

Cardi B Weighs In on 'Girls' Controversy After Rita Ora's Apology

Cardi B lends her talent to Rita Ora‘s song “Girls,” which has been embroiled in controversy since it’s release.

Specifically, fans and entertainers, including Hayley Kiyoko have spoken out about the song, saying, “Every so often there come certain songs with messaging that is just downright tone-deaf, which does more harm than good for the LGBTQ+ community. A song like this just fuels the male gaze while marginalizing the idea of women loving women.”

Rita has since apologized, and Cardi B sent out some tweets earlier with her thoughts.

Rita Ora Apologizes Amid Backlash Over 'Girls' Song Lyrics

Rita Ora has issued an apology to anyone she may have offended over her song “Girls,” which also features Cardi B, Charli XCX, and Bebe Rexha.

Hayley Kiyoko is one of the many artists who spoke out about the song, saying, “Every so often there come certain songs with messaging that is just downright tone-deaf, which does more harm than good for the LGBTQ+ community. A song like this just fuels the male gaze while marginalizing the idea of women loving women.”

Some of the lyrics in the song include, “Sometimes, I just wanna kiss girls/Red wine, I just wanna kiss girls.”

Hayley Kiyoko Criticizes the Lyrics of Rita Ora's 'Girls': 'Just Downright Tone-Deaf'

Hayley Kiyoko is speaking out against Rita Ora‘s “Girls,” which features Charli XCX, Cardi B and Bebe Rexha.

The 27-year-old openly out “Girls Like Girls” singer issued a statement on Friday (May 11) upon the song’s release.

“It’s important for us artists to use our platforms to move the cultural needle forward, not backwards. There is a new song that came out today featuring a handful of well-known pop artists that has me overwhelmed with thoughts,” she wrote.

“I literally have a knot in my stomach right now. To be clear, I fully support other artists who freely express themselves and applaud male and female artists who are opening up more and more about their sexual identities. But every so often there come certain songs with messaging that is just downright tone-deaf, which does more harm than good for the LGBTQ+ community. A song like this just fuels the male gaze while marginalizing the idea of women loving women.”

“I know that wasn’t the intention of the artists on the song, but it’s the lack of consideration behind these lyrics that really get me. I don’t need to drink wine to kiss girls; I’ve loved women my entire life. This type of message is dangerous because it completely belittles and invalidates the very pure feelings of an entire community. I feel I have a responsibility to protect that whenever possible. We can and should do better.”
