After almost not being allowed inside the White House, Ellen DeGeneres had an emotional moment while being presented the Presidential Medal of Freedom!

The talk show host was one of 21 stars who received the medal from President Barack Obama at a ceremony in the East Room on Tuesday (November 22) in Washington, D.C.

The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the highest honor that a U.S. civilian can receive and Ellen teared up while being given her medal.

“In a career spanning three decades, Ellen DeGeneres has lifted our spirits and brought joy to our lives as a stand-up comic, actor, and television star. In every role, she reminds us to be kind to one another and to treat people as each of us wants to be treated. At pivotal moments, her courage and candor helped change the minds and hearts of millions of Americans, accelerating our nation’s constant drive toward equality and acceptance for all,” the announcer said while she stood on stage with Obama. “Again and again, Ellen DeGeneres has shown us that a single individual can make the world a more fun, more open, more loving place, so long as we ‘just keep swimming.’”

Other stars who received the medal included Tom Hanks, Diana Ross, Robert De Niro, Bruce Springsteen, Robert Redford, Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels, basketball players Michael Jordan and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bill and Melinda Gates, and more.

Robert Redford says he is ready to retire from acting after two more films.

The 80-year-old actor made the announcement during an interview with his grandson Dylan.

In the interview, Robert reveals that he wants to focus on his passions of directing and sketching, noting the importance of storytelling and painting.

“[I want to return to painting] a lot – and a lot lately because I’m getting tired of acting,” Robert said. “I’m an impatient person, so it’s hard for me to sit around and do take after take after take. At this point in my life, age 80, it’d give me more satisfaction because I’m not dependent on anybody. It’s just me, just the way it used to be, and so going back to sketching – that’s sort of where my head is right now. I’m thinking of moving in that direction and not acting so much.”

Robert hopes to retire from his acting career after filming two more movies, Our Souls at Night and Old Man With a Gun.

“Once they’re done then I’m going to say, ‘Okay, that’s goodbye to all that,’ and then just focus on directing,” he added.

The first teaser trailer for the upcoming Disney remake Pete’s Dragon has just hit the web!

The film is about the adventure of an orphaned boy named Pete (Oakes Fegley) and his best friend Elliott, who just so happens to be a dragon.

Bryce Dallas Howard, Wes Bentley, Karl Urban, Robert Redford, Oona Laurence, and more star in the highly anticipated movie, hitting theaters on August 12.

Cate Blanchett is gorgeous in a floral gown while attending the Giorgio Armani and Cinema Society screening of her latest film Truth held at the Museum of Modern Art on Wednesday (October 7) in New York City.

The 46-year-old actress was joined by her co-stars John Benjamin Hickey, Dennis Quaid, Robert Redford, Dermot Mulroney, as well as Orange Is The New Black‘s Alysia Reiner and host Andy Cohen, who both came out to show their support.

That same day, Cate was spotted heading out of Good Morning America after promoting Truth and opening up about playing famed comedian and actress Lucille Ball.

“It’s early days but Aaron Sorkin and I are talking about [it],” Cate said during her interview. “We don’t know what form it’s going to be in but there’s a lot of material there. She was one of my all-time great heroes, she was an extraordinary woman.”

Jane Krakowski looks stunning in her dress while attending the 2015 Princess Grace Awards Gala on Saturday (September 5) at the palace in Monte-Carlo, Monaco.

The Emmy-nominated Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt actress hosted the gala, which was attended by Princess Charlene and Prince Albert.

“I’m trying to keep my cool and not think about all the faux pas or protocol mistakes I could make. But I have to say His Serene Highness and Her Serene Highness are both very chill,” Jane told THR.

Also in attendance at the event were Robert Redford and Beasts of No Nation director Cary Fukunaga, who were both honored at the event.
