Tennis champ Roger Federer hits up the Nike-built regulation tennis court on 23rd Street & Broadway on Wednesday (August 26) in New York City.
The Swiss pro player, who turned 28 earlier this month, challenged local youth tennis players to try their hand at experiencing what it’s like to return a pro serve.
Roger also unveiled his look for the 2009 U.S. Open, consisting of bold red and black. His in-game polos are constructed of knit Nike Dri-FIT fabric. The body of the shirt has an embossed dot pattern inspired by the subway signs of New York, and the button placket features Roger’s black RF monogram logo, applied using bonded innovation and laser cut detailing.

Roger Federer posted the first picture of his three-week-old twin girls, Myla Rose and Charlene Riva, on Facebook on Friday morning (August 7).
The 27-year-old tennis champ wrote, “As promised, here is a family picture that my dad took. He thinks he’s becoming a professional photographer. It was very funny as both girls had the hiccups while we were trying to take a decent picture. The girls and mom are doing great. Thanks for all your warm wishes.”
Earlier this week, Roger said, “[My wife] Mirka, Myla and Charlene are all doing really well. The baby girls are doing new things every day and are a lot of fun.”
Tennis champ Roger Federer and his wife Mirka welcomed twin daughters, Charlene Riva and Myla Rose, on Thursday (July 23) in Switzerland.
“This is the greatest day of our lives,” Roger, 27, said in a statement “Mirka, Myla and Charlene are all healthy and doing very well.”
Earlier this month, Roger won Wimbledon and his 15th Major, making him the #1 ranked player in the world. In April, Roger and Mirka tied the knot also in Switzerland, where Roger is from.

Federer, 27, made sports history Sunday by becoming the first man to win 15 major tennis titles as he overcame Andy Roddick in the Wimbledon final. Williams, 27, won her 11th grand slam title at Wimbedon on Saturday.
“For the second time in my career, I have a number I want to reach,” Williams said in an interview at Wimbledon before yesterday’s men’s final. “My first number was reaching Monica Seles, and I was finally able to do that. Now, I’m looking at Billie Jean King.”

A man wearing a Barcelona shirt and holding a flag disrupted the finals by rushing towards Roger Federer and tried to put a hat on him during the second set in front of stunned spectators at the 2009 French Open on Sunday (June 7), in Paris, France.
“All of a sudden I heard the crowd, and I looked over and he jumped over the fence or something,” Federer said afterward. “That gave me a fright, just, like, seeing him so close right away.” After the incident, Federer, 27, beat Robin Soderling in three sets and now that he has tied Pete Sampras at 14 majors.
“Now the question is, am I the greatest of all time? We don’t know, but I definitely have many things going for me because I’ve finally won all four Grand Slams and I’m particularly happy reaching Pete‘s 14,” he said.
