The 30-year-old actress faced a ton of controversy and backlash when she was cast as the Native American princess Tiger Lily in the new Joe Wright film Pan.
“It wasn’t great, I felt really bad about it,” Rooney told People about her casting. “It was something that I thought about before I met with Joe[Wright, the director]. When I met with Joe and heard what his plans for it were, it was something I really wanted to be a part of. But I totally sympathize with why people were upset and feel really bad about it.”
Pan hits theaters on October 9.

The day before, Hugh was spotted arriving at the BBC Radio 1 studios to promote his new film Pan in London, England.
Hugh was recently asked by MTV to reveal who he thinks would be the right successor for Wolverine.
“I haven’t really given it a lot of thought,” Hugh said. “I’ve been asked that question a lot, and I’m always like, ‘I don’t wanna make it too easy on the studio to replace me,’ you know? I’ve still got one more to do. I’m sure they’re already talking about it, and there’s some actor [they’ve told] ‘shh, keep it quiet but we want you next.’”
“He’s younger than me for sure,” Hugh added. “I think Tom Hardy would be a great Wolverine.”
