Cate Blanchett Is Bored Of The Same Conversation About Women In Hollywood: 'Get On With It'

Cate Blanchett flashes a smile alongside Topher Grace while attending The Academy Of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences New Members Reception held at the American Ambassadors Residence, Winfield House, Regents Park on Wednesday (October 14) in London, England.

The 46-year-old actress and Topher, 37, were joined by Kate Beckinsale, Cate‘s Carol co-star Rooney Mara, Jeremy Piven, and interior designer Fran Hickman at the event hosted by Ambassador Matthew Barzun and Mrs Brooke Barzun.

Cate recently opened up about being bored with the conversation on whether there are enough complex roles for females in Hollywood.

“Every time there’s interesting, complex roles played by actresses on-screen, someone says, ‘Do you think this is a breakthrough?’ and ‘Does this mean there’s going to be more of the same?’” Cate told reporters (via VanityFair). “We seem to find ourselves in the same conversation and that’s somehow remarkable. I think there’s a swathe of great roles for women and, certainly, there’s some wonderful female performers. It’s just time to get on with it, really.”

Cate Blanchett Plays 'Shag, Marry, Kill' with Her 'Lord of the Rings' Co-Stars - Watch Now!

Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara get together for a picture at the Carol photo call during the BFI London Film Festival held at the Soho Hotel on Wednesday (October 14) in London, England.

The 46-year-old actress and Rooney, 30, premiered the film later that day.

Cate made an appearance on Watch What Happens Live!, where she was asked to play “Shag Marry Kill” with her Lord of the Rings co-stars!

She ended up marrying her co-star Elijah Wood, shag Viggo Mortensen and kill Orlando Bloom.

“It’s not that I want to kill Orlando,” Cate said. LOL!

FYI: Cate is wearing head-to-toe Givenchy at the photo call. She’s wearing an Esteban Cortazar gown and Guiseppe Zanotti shoes at the premiere. Rooney is wearing Alexander McQueen at the premiere and Giambattista Valli with Nicholas Kirkwood shoes at the photo call. More Here! »

Cate Blanchett Might Compete Against Herself at the Oscars

Cate Blanchett walks the red carpet while attending the New York Film Festival premiere of her new movie Carol on Friday night (October 9) in New York City.

The 46-year-old actress was joined at the event by her co-star Rooney Mara.

The night before, Cate stepped out in two looks while making an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Cate is getting major Oscar buzz for two movies this year – Carol and Truth. The problem is that she is the leading actress in both and the studios behind the films reportedly don’t want to move her down into the supporting actress category so she will be eligible for both. The Academy only lets talent be nominated once in each category each year, so there’s a chance Cate could split the votes and be snubbed altogether if she doesn’t get enough votes for one of the roles. This will surely make for an interesting awards season!

FYI: Cate is wearing an Aouadi Paris dress and Lorraine Schwartz earrings at the premiere. She is wearing a Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane suit at Letterman.

Rooney Mara Responds to 'Pan' Casting Backlash: 'It Wasn't Great'

Rooney Mara and her boyfriend Charlie McDowell step out on the chilly day on Monday (October 5) in New York City.

The 30-year-old actress faced a ton of controversy and backlash when she was cast as the Native American princess Tiger Lily in the new Joe Wright film Pan.

“It wasn’t great, I felt really bad about it,” Rooney told People about her casting. “It was something that I thought about before I met with Joe[Wright, the director]. When I met with Joe and heard what his plans for it were, it was something I really wanted to be a part of. But I totally sympathize with why people were upset and feel really bad about it.”

Pan hits theaters on October 9.

Hugh Jackman Reveals His Pick for the Next Wolverine

Hugh Jackman flashes a big smile as he arrives at the Ed Sullivan Theater to make an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday (September 23) in New York City.

The day before, Hugh was spotted arriving at the BBC Radio 1 studios to promote his new film Pan in London, England.

Hugh was recently asked by MTV to reveal who he thinks would be the right successor for Wolverine.

“I haven’t really given it a lot of thought,” Hugh said. “I’ve been asked that question a lot, and I’m always like, ‘I don’t wanna make it too easy on the studio to replace me,’ you know? I’ve still got one more to do. I’m sure they’re already talking about it, and there’s some actor [they’ve told] ‘shh, keep it quiet but we want you next.’”

“He’s younger than me for sure,” Hugh added. “I think Tom Hardy would be a great Wolverine.”
