Actress Ruby Dee passed away at her home on Wednesday (June 11) in New Rochelle, New York.
The 91-year-old actress and activist was surrounded by loved ones as she passed from old age related causes, THR reports.
Ruby starred in many hits including 1960s movie A Raisin in the Sun and roles in Spike Lee movies Do the Right Thing and Jungle Fever. She also recently starred in the Denzel Washington movie American Gangster.
Ruby was also a civil rights activist and fought for equality.
