Russell Simmons Takes Lie Detector Test to Prove Innocence Amid Rape Allegations

Russell Simmons is on a mission to prove his innocence after a series of rape allegations surfaced in an explosive New York Times report.

The 60-year-old music mogul is taking a lie detector test to prove he did not sexually assault Keri Claussen Khalighi. TMZ has obtained an image of Russell taking the test on Wednesday (December 13).

According to Russell‘s attorneys, he passed the test “with flying colors, and plans to repeat the test for allegations made by four other women.”

“Today, I begin to properly defend myself. I will prove without any doubt that I am innocent of all rape charges. Today, I will focus on “The Original Sin” (Keri Claussen), the claim that created this insane pile on of my #MeToo. Stay tuned! We’ll share information today… And tomorrow the case of Jenny Lumet. My intention is not to diminish the #MeToo movement in anyway, but instead hold my accusers accountable. #NotMe Again, this is not a movement against or even in conjunction with #Metoo . It’s just a statement about my innocence,” the 60-year-old music mogul wrote on Instagram.

Russell Simmons Accused of Rape by Three Women

Three women have stepped forward in a new report by The New York Times claiming that they were raped by Russell Simmons.

In the report, singer Tina Baker alleges that the 60-year-old music mogul raped her while operating as her manager during the early ’90s. Music journalist Toni Sallie alleges that he raped her in 1988, while former Def Jam employee Drew Dixon claims she was raped by the music mogul in 1995.

While Russell already stepped down following an initial allegation of sexual assault made by writer Jenny Lumet, he has denied these latest allegations in a statement issued to Variety.

“I vehemently deny all these allegations. These horrific accusations have shocked me to my core and all of my relations have been consensual,” he said.

“What I will not accept is responsibility for what I have not done. I have conducted my life with a message of peace and love. Although I have been candid about how I have lived in books and interviews detailing my flaws, I will relentlessly fight against any untruthful character assassination that paints me as a man of violence.”

Screenwriter Jenny Lumet Accuses Russell Simmons of Sexual Assault

Screenwriter Jenny Lumet has accused Russell Simmons of sexual assault.

The Rachel Getting Married screenwriter wrote a letter to Simmons, alleging he penetrated her after a night out in 1991.

“There is so much guilt, and so much shame. There is an excruciating internal reckoning. As a woman of color, I cannot express how wrenching it is to write this about a successful man of color. Again, shame about who I was years ago, choices made years ago. In this very moment, I feel a pang to protect your daughters. I don’t think you are inclined to protect mine,” Jenny wrote in her letter via THR.

“I have been informed with great anguish of Jenny Lumet‘s recollection about our night together in 1991. I know Jenny and her family and have seen her several times over the years since the evening she described. While her memory of that evening is very different from mine, it is now clear to me that her feelings of fear and intimidation are real. While I have never been violent, I have been thoughtless and insensitive in some of my relationships over many decades and I sincerely and humbly apologize,” Simmons said in response to Jenny‘s piece. “This is a time of great transition. The voices of the voiceless, those who have been hurt or shamed, deserve and need to be heard. As the corridors of power inevitably make way for a new generation, I don’t want to be a distraction so I am removing myself from the businesses that I founded. The companies will now be run by a new and diverse generation of extraordinary executives who are moving the culture and consciousness forward. I will convert the studio for yogic science into a not-for-profit center of learning and healing. As for me, I will step aside and commit myself to continuing my personal growth, spiritual learning and above all to listening.”

This is not the first sexual assault allegation made against Simmons.

Russell Simmons Responds to Sexual Assault Allegations, Says Relationship Was Consensual

Russell Simmons is speaking out in response to allegations of sexual assault and harassment, which were made by model Keri Claussen Khalighi.

Keri says that the incident happened in 1991 after she went to dinner with both Russell and Brett Ratner, who was a music video director at the time. They went back to his apartment after dinner and she says Simmons began yanking off her clothes.

“I looked over at Brett and said ‘help me’ and I’ll never forget the look on his face,” she told the Los Angeles Times. “In that moment, the realization fell on me that they were in it together.”

Russell has already denied the claims to the LA Times and now he’s speaking out again in a lengthy statement to THR.
