Ryan Reynolds Had a 'Nervous Breakdown' After Filming 'Deadpool'

Ryan Reynolds is opening up about experiencing a “nervous breakdown” after he wrapped filming on his smash hit movie Deadpool.

The film grossed over $782 million worldwide earlier this year on just a $58 million budget. A sequel is already in the works!

“I felt like I was on some schooner in the middle of a white squall the whole time,” Ryan says in GQ‘s new Man of the Year issue. “It just never stopped. When it finally ended, I had a little bit of a nervous breakdown. I literally had the shakes. I went to go see a doctor because I felt like I was suffering from a neurological problem or something. And every doctor I saw said, ‘You have anxiety.’”

“I say this with the caveat that I completely recognize the ridiculously fortunate position that I am in. But the attention is hard on your nervous system—that might be why I live out in the woods. And I was banging the loudest drum for Deadpool. I wasn’t just trying to open it; I was trying to make a cultural phenomenon,” Ryan said.

Ryan Reynolds Reveals How He Knew Blake Lively Was 'The One'

Ryan Reynolds is on the cover of GQ‘s Men of the Year issue for December 2016 and he opens up about how he knew wife Blake Lively was “the one.”

Here is what the 40-year-old Deadpool actor had to share with the mag:

On when he knew Blake was the one: “Probably after the sex,” he said jokingly. “No, we were hanging out at this little restaurant in Tribeca that’s open really late, and this song came on and I was just like, ‘Want to dance?’ No one was in there, so it was just totally empty. And it was just one of those moments where halfway through the dance, it was like, ‘Oh, I think I just crossed a line.’ And then I walked her home. And, uh, you know, I don’t really need to go into what happened after that.”

On his childhood: “I had a rough ten-year patch with my father. So we were estranged. From my earliest memory of him, my father was that stereotypical tough guy. But it was just a veneer. The hardest part for me is that he was always kind of a mystery. I just don’t feel like I ever had a real conversation with him… But I actually that sort of epic moment that only happens in films, where I saw him before he died and closed the loop as much as I could.”

On his family: “I’m on the precipice of having a real American family. I mean, I always imagined that would happen, and then it happened. Every idiotic Hallmark-card cliché is true.”

Also featured on the covers are Warren Beatty and Olympic runner Usain Bolt. The issue hits newsstands nationwide on November 22.

The 29-year-old actress gave birth in late September, but the gender and name of the newborn has been kept secret.

“Two [kids] under two is tough,” Ryan said during the interview, which aired on Wednesday (November 2). “Yeah, a lot of estrogen. It’s like an American Girl doll took a s–t on my life.”

After making the slip on television, Ryan knew he made a mistake and made sure to make it up to Blake by bringing her a special treat.

“The ways I know that @vancityreynolds got himself into huge trouble on @teamcoco tonight: Not only did he come home with my true love, @levain_bakery cookies, but he personally toasted them for me and brought me a cup of milk WITH ICE.
