Meghan Markle has won the defamation lawsuit her half-sister Samantha Markle filed against her.
Samantha filed the defamation lawsuit and sought $75,000 in damages over claims made in the “Finding Freedom” biography, as well as the Duchess of Sussex’s interview with Oprah in 2021.
A judge dismissed Samantha‘s case on Thursday (March 30), saying that Samantha took issue with opinions, not facts, and therefore was not defamatory.

Meghan Markle‘s niece Ashleigh Hale is featured in the new Netflix docu-series Harry & Meghan and we get a closer look at their relationship over the years.
For those who don’t know, Ashleigh is the biological daughter of Meghan‘s estranged half-sister Samantha Markle.
In the docu-series, Ashleigh explained that she was raised by her grandparents and had not seen her mother Samantha since she was 6 until they reconnected in 2007. When Meghan learned that her half-sister was in touch with her daughter again, she reached out to her niece and formed a relationship with her.
Ashleigh says their relationship began with “these long emails back to each other. And then texts and calls. After a while, I think we were talking, on some level, several days a week.”

Meghan Markle’s team is issuing a response.
After her half-sister Samantha filed a defamation lawsuit, the 40-year-old Duchess of Sussex’s legal team are responding to allegations that she lied to Oprah Winfrey about being an “only child.”
Samantha is seeking $75,000 in damages over claims made in the Finding Freedom biography, as well as the Oprah chat that aired last year. She says they have the same dad, Thomas Markle.

Meghan Markle has made a motion in the new defamation case that her half-sister, Samantha, has filed against her.
If you didn’t know, Samantha had re-filed her defamation case against the Duchess of Sussex and claimed that she was not being honest when discussing her past or their father, Thomas Markle.
Meghan had previously made a motion to dismiss the case, but it was denied by a judge. Now, she’s re-filed a dismissal.

Meghan Markle made comments about her half-sister Samantha in her interview with Oprah Winfrey and now she is responding.
Oprah asked about the “tell-all” book that Samantha is writing about her relationship with Meghan and the Duchess of Sussex shut down the idea that there would be any substance in the book.
“I think it would be hard to ‘tell all’ when you don’t know me,” Meghan said. “I grew up as an only child… The last time I saw her must have been at least 18, 19 years ago, and before then, 10 years before that.”
Meghan also claims that Samantha changed her last name back to Markle “only when I started dating Harry. So I think that says enough.”
