Saoirse Ronan looks serious during a panel discussion of her film Brooklyn at the United Nations Economic and Social Council chamber on Thursday (February 11) in New York City.
The 21-year-old actress recently expressed that she thought she was similar to her character in Brooklyn, a young Irish girl who moves to New York.
“There’s certainly stresses she would have gone through that I would have gone through myself when I moved away from home. And just that grief she feels when she goes back home, because you don’t realize how final it is,” Saoirse explained.
She added, “When I went back to Ireland for the first time, I realized I had had experiences that were separate from that place, from my parents and from my friends back home, that they didn’t know about, that were just mine, and a grief started to set in.”
