Nintendo’s president Satoru Iwata has sadly passed away at the age of 55, the gaming company said in brief statement.
“Nintendo Co., Ltd. deeply regrets to announce that President Satoru Iwata passed away on July 11, 2015 due to a bile duct growth,” the statement read.
In June of 2014, Satoru underwent surgery to remove a growth on his bile duct and they thought they caught the issue early enough.
Satoru famously cut his salary in half last year after Nintendo posted a dip in their profits.
