Michael Pitt has joined the cast of the highly anticipated movie Ghost in the Shell, an adaptation of the famous Japanese manga.
The 34-year-old actor will star opposite Scarlett Johansson as the villain known as the Laughing Man, according to THR.
The character is described as “a bitter and vengeful man with a body that is part robot. He has a unique sense of style and has been described as a bad guy filtered through the lens of a street artist.”
Ghost in the Shell is set to hit theaters on March 31, 2017.
Scarlett Johansson is spotted on the set of her brand new film Ghost in the Shell on Monday (February 1) in Wellington, New Zealand.
The 31-year-old actress has reportedly been in town for weeks preparing for her role in the movie about “the exploits of a member of a covert ops unit of the Japanese National Public Safety Commission that specializes in fighting technology-related crime,” (via Variety).
Scarlett has also been seen working out at the gym with her personal trainer, as well as hubby Romain Dauriac. They’ve also been hanging out with their young daughter Rose, 1, (not pictured).

The 30-year-old actress directed the special live stream concert event, which saw Ellie, 28, perform a mix of her hits like “Burn” and “Lights” along with new tracks from her latest album Delirium.
