Sheldon Adelson has died.
The billionaire casino owner worth more than $35 billion, who was also a big donor to the Republican party, passed away at the age of 87, his casino and resort Las Vegas Sands confirmed on Tuesday (January 12).
The casino confirmed he died on Monday (January 11) due to “complications related to treatment for non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.”
“He will be missed by people from all parts of the world who were touched by his generosity, kindness, intellect and wonderful sense of humor,” the Sands staff said in their press release.
He spent much of his fortune on Republican initiatives, including President Trump‘s 2016 campaign.
He also gave $5 million to the Trump inauguration organizing committee, and gave the Trump campaign $25 million in 2016, according to the New York Times.
These celebrities and political figures have all passed away recently.
