Shia LaBeouf Retires From Public Life, Thanks Fans for Support

Shia LaBeouf has taken to his Twitter account – possibly for the last time ever – to tell his fans that he is retiring from “public life.”

“In light of the recent attacks against my artistic integrity, I am retiring from all public life,” the 27-year-old actor tweeted very early this morning. “My love goes out to those who have supported me.”

He concluded his message with “#stopcreating,” which alluded to a cease and desist letter he received from famed artist Daniel Clowes‘ lawyer.

In case you’ve missed the whole story, Shia plagiarized his new short film HowardCantour.com, which was a direct adaptation of a comic written by Daniel.

Shia posted the entirety of the cease and desist letter for his fans to read, and even made the image his Twitter cover pic, where he blacked out all of the lettering except “he must stop all efforts to create.” Check out the letter below.

Shia LaBeouf & Lena Dunham Argue About Skywriting on Twitter

Shia LaBeouf and Lena Dunham are the latest celebs to indirectly argue with each other on Twitter.

“I’ve always felt, utterly and unchangeably, that only sociopaths hire skywriters,” the Girls actress first tweeted.

Shia retweeted her and said, “I don’t mind creating debate with thoroughly considered artistic expressions but I don’t want to offend with a tweet. Sorry world.”

He added, “Im addicted to lean & that sh-t ain’t no joke. I can barely remember all the things I’ve done & said. However there’s no excuse 4 skywriting.”

Lena responded, “Vaguely recognized Shia Labeouf‘s latest twitter apology and realized it was MINE! Touché, Louis Stevens. Projecting a lot of rage against my 7th grade boyfriend on LaBeouf. Think this is the start of something really productive #2014.”

“I don’t mind creating debate with thoroughly considered artistic expressions but I don’t want to offend with a tweet. Sorry Charlies,” Lena originally tweeted in October to apologize for referencing Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka, who were a couple that raped and murdered in Canada.

In case you didn’t know, Shia used skywriting to apologize for plagiarizing writer Daniel Clowes.

Shia LaBeouf Sends Plagiarism Apology via Skywriting (Photo)

Shia LaBeouf is continuing to apologize for plagiarizing comic book writer Daniel Clowes in his short film HowardCantour.com and now he has taken to skywriting as a way to express his regret.

“I am sorry Daniel Clowes,” the message read in the photo that the 27-year-old actor posted on Twitter.

“CLOUD: – vapor floating in the atmosphere – remote servers used to SHARE DATA – to make LESS CLEAR or TRANSPARENT,” Shia wrote as a caption to the photo.

The day before, Shia wrote yet another apology and also said what his resolution for the new year will be.

“2014 Resolution – I need to work on being a less controversial tweeter. I am sorry for all the plagiarized tweets, they all were unintelligent, ambiguous and needlessly hurtful. You have my apologies for offending you for thinking I was being serious instead of accurately realizing I was mocking you,” Shia wrote.

Shia LaBeouf on Not Giving Credit for Short Film: 'I F--ked Up'

Shia LaBeouf has responded to reports that he plagiarized his new short film HowardCantour.com after failing to credit the work that inspired the project.

The 27-year-old actor debuted his short film at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2012 and finally posted the clip online on Monday. Fans realized that the flick, which stars Jim Gaffigan as an online film critic, is basically a direct adaptation of a comic written by famed artist Daniel Clowes.

“Copying isn’t particularly creative work. Being inspired by someone else’s idea to produce something new and different IS creative work. In my excitement and naiveté as an amateur filmmaker, I got lost in the creative process and neglected to follow proper accreditation,” Shia said on Twitter. “I’m embarrassed that I failed to credit @danielclowes for his original graphic novella Justin M. Damiano, which served as my inspiration. I was truly moved by his piece of work & I knew that it would make a poignant & relevant short. I apologize to all who assumed I wrote it. I deeply regret the manner in which these events have unfolded and want @danielclowes to know that I have a great respect for his work.”

After tweeting out his statement, Shia waited an hour and said “I f–ked up.” Head on over to Buzzfeed to watch the film and read Daniel Clowes‘ reaction to it.
