Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland have all played Spider-Man, one of Marvel‘s most beloved young heroes, on the big screen in the last three decades. However, they faced some stiff competition to book the gig.

A multitude of actors have been attached to the role of Peter Parker at some point over the years.

Many of them competed with Tobey, Andrew and Tom for the part. However, others were up for totally different movies that never got made. Interestingly, some of the celebs even went on to land different roles in the franchise!

We looked back in history and pulled together 11 A-listers who had been linked to the Spider-Man over the years but didn’t get to put on the iconic suit. There are be some surprises on this list!

Tom Holland is sharing a cute tidbit about his life with girlfriend Zendaya!

The 27-year-old actor hit the red carpet on Sunday (January 14) at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards, and talked about rewatching Spider-Man: Homecoming, their first movie, together.

He also shared a “stupid joke” he makes about the Spider-Man movies that none of his friends laugh at.

Tobey Maguire was originally slated to make a fourth Spider-Man movie and Anne Hathaway was attached to join the cast, but the film was never made.

Sam Raimi‘s trilogy of movies were released in 2002, 2004, and 2007, with the fourth movie scheduled for release in May 2011. The director dropped out of the film as he didn’t feel he could deliver the movie in time.

Anne was attached to play Black Cat in the film, but never got the chance to step into the character’s shoes. She told Variety that she never tried on a costume or even saw a script.

Thanks to the movie not being made, Anne says she got another exciting role.

It’s been two years since the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home and the movie continues to be one of the most successful films of all time. The film is currently the third highest-grossing movie of all time with a domestic total of $814 million and it’s safe to say that the lead actors took home a lot of money for the film!

The movie originally earned $804 million during its initial theatrical run and then grossed another $10 million during its re-release in September 2022.

Disney+ is adding more new content to it’s library!

The streaming service has revealed all of the TV episodes and movies that will be coming out throughout the second to last month of the year, November 2023.

There are original movies premiering, new episodes of fan-favorite shows like Loki, Dancing With the Stars, and batches of new episodes for several Disney Channel series, plus the addition of Tom Holland‘s second Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Far From Home.
