Star Wars: The Force Awakens has done the unthinkable… it has shattered the all time domestic box office record set by Avatar to become North America’s top grossing movie ever. Now, let’s take a look at some more records the movie has broken!

The movie broke the record on Wednesday afternoon (January 6) in just 20 days of release. The movie has now grossed over $760.5 million, which was what Avatar made in its full run plus its re-release.

The Force Awakens, which stars a hot young cast alongside vets like Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher, has broken a ton of other records as well, like biggest opening weekend ever, biggest opening day, and fastest to reach $100 million.

There’s no stopping Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which has made over $1.5 billion worldwide since its December 16 global debut. The movie still hasn’t opened in China, the second biggest movie market in the world.

'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' to Break All-Time Box Office Record on Monday

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is still posting massive numbers at the box office and it is on track to break the record for biggest box office total ever on Monday.

The movie made $34.5 million on New Year’s Day and it is estimated that the film will gross more than $90 million for its third full weekend. That will bring the domestic total to $742 million by the end of Sunday, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Avatar currently holds the record for biggest movie of all time with a domestic total of $760.8 million and it looks like The Force Awakens will become the top-grossing movie ever on Monday, and if not, then on Tuesday.

It will only take the movie 18 days to reach that milestone if it happens on Monday. Avatar spent 238 days in theaters and then was re-released for another 84 days!

'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' is Fifth Biggest Domestic Box Office Grosser of All Time

Star Wars: The Force Awakens added $70.8 million to its global box office gross on Monday for a total of $1.16 billion, making it the fifth highest domestic grosser of all time and the tenth worldwide, reports Variety.

In just 13 days, the movie has nearly topped the list of domestic grosses, trailing behind Avatar at $760 million, Titanic at $658 million, Jurassic World at $652 million and The Avengers at $623 million.

Avatar also tops the worldwide grosses at $2.78 billion, but The Force Awakens reportedly has a shot at reaching the top of that list as well, and is expected to move up several slots by the end of next weekend.

'Star Wars' Easily Breaks Christmas Day Box Office Record!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens continues to smash box office records a week into its stunning box office run.

The film has achieved the biggest Christmas day gross of all time with an estimated $40 million on Friday. It is on track to take in $140 million for its second weekend in release, which will beat the record for biggest second weekend ever, according to Variety.

The previous Christmas day record was held by Sherlock Holmes with $24.6 million and the previous second weekend record was held by Jurassic World with $106 million.

In other box office news, Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell‘s Daddy’s Home and Jennifer Lawrence‘s Joy are both opening strong in their first weekends.

Daddy’s Home is expected to take in around $30 million for the weekend while Joy will likely top $20 million, more than what was originally expected for both. Will Smith‘s Concussion is expected to bring in around $10 million for the weekend.

'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Cast Salaries Revealed

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is making history with the amount of money the film is grossing at the box office and it looks like the salaries for the cast members were well spent!

Harrison Ford by far made more money than anyone else in the cast with a reported salary of anywhere between $10 million and $20 million, according to Variety.

The other returning cast members, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, earned in the low-seven-figure range.

John Boyega and Daisy Ridley, who are both newcomers to the cast and the film world in general, were paid between $100-300k.

Adam Driver and Oscar Isaac, who are both well established actors at this point, earned in the mid-to-high-six figures.

All of the deals are expected to be renegotiated for the upcoming sequels!

'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Crushes Monday Record, Crosses $300 Million on Tuesday

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is achieving crazy box office numbers and it broke the record for the biggest Monday gross ever with $40.1 million.

The film reached a total of $288.1 million in four days and by Tuesday afternoon it had crossed the $300 million mark in record time. The previous record holder was Jurassic World, which reached the mark in eight days earlier this year.

At the end of its fifth day of release, The Force Awakens will eclipse the entire domestic run of Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, which grossed $310.7 million back in 2002, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
