Greta Gerwig Tells Stephen Colbert That The 'How I Met Your Mother' Spinoff Didn't Happen Because Of Her

Greta Gerwig made an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Thursday (November 16) and revealed the real reason why How I Met Your Mother‘s anticipated spinoff series How I Met Your Dad didn’t happen.

“They were gonna make another one called How I Met Your Dad starring me,” the 34-year-old actress recalled. “We shot the pilot and it was so much fun, I loved working on it. They take the pilot to Las Vegas and test it and the audience is given nobs, you turn the nob to the right if they like it and to the left if they don’t.”

Ben Affleck Responds to Colbert's Questions About Accusations Against Him, Talks Male Privilege

Ben Affleck is speaking out about sexual harassment in Hollywood and what men like himself can do to help make the situation better.

The 45-year-old actor responded to Stephen Colbert‘s questions on The Late Show on Thursday night (November 16) in New York City.

Ben was asked about the Harvey Weinstein scandal, which he called “hideous,” and then he was asked about the allegations made about him.

“What I was accused of by a woman [Hilarie Burton] was of touching her breast while giving her a hug. I don’t remember it, but I absolutely apologized for it. I certainly don’t think she’s lying or making it up,” Ben said. “It’s just the kind of thing we have to as men, as we become more aware of this, be more mindful of our behavior and hold ourselves accountable and say, ‘If I was ever part of the problem, I want to change. I want to be part of the solution.’ And to not shy away from these awkward or strange encounters we might have have had.”

Ben then brought up an interview he just did in which he felt uncomfortable and laughed awkwardly.

“I think the most important thing to do is to support the voices coming forward, believe them, and create a business where more women are empowered and in place so less of this happens. And so that there is a way of reporting this stuff so that people can feel safe doing it,” Ben added.

Ben also addressed the issue of male privilege.

“You are my favorite character in my favorite movie. I am– I don’t know what– how to describe how excited I am to meet you right now,” Stephen told the 46-year-old actor, who played Samwise Gamgee in the trilogy.

Stephen then told the audience that Sean and him actually met briefly during rehearsals first. Stephen described the situation saying, “I was trying to rehearse it, you walked out just to say hi in your underwear. And– hey! I gotta tell you– I gotta tell you, for me, it’s like I’m the cheerleader meeting the captain of the football team.”

“The reason I did that, come out to see you like that, my 15-year-old daughter, Elizabeth, begged me not to do anything to embarrass the family,” Sean revealed before continuing to embarrass his daughter even further by giving her a shout out on national television, saying, “Elizabeth, I love you!”

Stephen and Sean spent most of their time talking about Lord of the Rings instead of his role in Stranger Things 2, which was only mentioned briefly – Watch below!

Stephen Colbert Addresses Sutherland Springs Church Shooting: 'Hopelessness Is Not the Answer'

Stephen Colbert is speaking out about the horrifying mass shooting at a church in Sutherland Springs, Texas on Sunday (November 5) that left 26 people dead.

“This powerlessness you feel when nothing gets done is something you can’t give into,” Stephen assured the crowd during his heartfelt speech on The Late Show on Monday (November 6).

“So what do you do, if you’re not going to be hopeless, but you feel powerless? How do you get the power back? There’s one power you mustn’t ever forget, and that is: you can vote. Vote. In 2018. Vote for someone who will do something,” he pleaded.

Jeremy Piven Dropped as 'Late Show' Guest Amid Sexual Harassment Scandal

Jeremy Piven was dropped as a guest from The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

The 52-year-old actor was scheduled to appear on the show on Friday (November 3) in an interview with host Stephen Colbert.

CBS has decided not to air the prerecorded interview with Jeremy due to the allegation of sexual harassment that came to light later in the week.

Jeremy Piven’s interview for Friday’s broadcast was pre-taped earlier this week on Monday, October 30. Since we were unable to address recent developments in that interview, we are replacing that segment with a new guest,” a spokesperson for The Late Show told The Hollywood Reporter.

Actress Ariane Bellamar alleged on Tuesday (October 31) that the actor groped her on the set of Entourage.

Jeremy denied the account in a statement: “I unequivocally deny the appalling allegations being peddled about me. It did not happen. It takes a great deal of courage for victims to come forward with their histories, and my hope is that the allegations about me that didn’t happen, do not detract from stories that should be heard.”

Nicole Kidman Reveals Why Winning Two Emmys Was More Meaningful Than Winning Her Oscar

Nicole Kidman made an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday (November 1) and revealed the sweet reason why winning two Emmys for Big Little Lies was more meaningful than winning her Oscar for her role in The Hours.

“I was so glad to win the two Emmys, because I have [two] daughters,” the 50-year-old actress told host Stephen. “It was amazing to take home two and go, ‘You get one each.’”

“When I won my Oscar, I was not in a great place in my life. I didn’t have a partner to share it with,” added Nicole, who at the time had recently broken up with Tom Cruise. “I was flailing, emotionally and personally. So, to win and Emmy and be in love and have my family… It’s amazing.”

“I was alone. I sort of ordered some room service, and that was it — which I know is like, ‘Oh,’” Nicole continued about her Oscar. “There’s something incredible about going home and going, ‘Baby! We did it!’ And that’s what we did.”
