Tiffany Haddish Jokes About Being 'White on Paper' During Hilarious 'Late Show' Interview - Watch Here!

Tiffany Haddish made her very first ever visit to The Late Show on Tuesday (August 15) and talked all about her great year, coming up in comedy, and starring in Jay-Z‘s Friends parody.

“Any chance that I get to play a white woman, I am there! I’m Phoebe on there,” the 37-year-old Girls Trip star told host Stephen Colbert about the spoof. “I’m a white woman on paper; I’ve been a white woman for the last five, ten years now.”

“What do you mean ‘white on paper?’” Colbert asked.

“Like seven years ago, the census had come around, right? The census came and they showed up to my house, and they asked me what my nationality was, ’cause they was counting to see how many black people are in the neighborhood. I was like, ‘What do you mean? I’m American.’ And he was like, ‘No, what’s your race?’ I was like, ‘Oh! So, we’re doing that today? We’re bringing racism in my front door on this day? What are you, colorblind?’ And he said, ‘Yes,’” Tiffany joked. “I was like, ‘Ooh! This is my chance.’ I had like a That’s So Raven moment; I went into my brain and I was like, ‘Girl, this is your chance. What do you mean this is my chance? Obama said it’s time for change; you could be whatever you want to be today.’ And I was like, ‘You’re right! I can be whatever I want to be.’ And I looked at him and said, ‘I’m car-casian.’ Because I got a car and I know a lot of Asians, so I just put that together. I told him was ‘car-casian’ and he said OK. He checked the white box and it has been fantastic. Oh, my goodness.”

Don’t forget to check out Tiffany in her newest comedy special She Ready: From Hood To Hollywood premiering on Showtime on Friday (August 18)!

FYI: Tiffany is wearing Sandro.

David Tennant Calls Jodie Whittaker 'Doctor Who' Casting Backlash 'Irrelevant' - Watch Here!

David Tennant has broken his silence about the backlash Jodie Whittaker has received following the announcement of her taking on the role of the 13th Doctor Who during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday (August 9) in New York City.

The 46-year-old actor, who played the 10th Doctor Who, told Stephen he was “delighted” by the news, and that all the current backlash is cyclical.

“Whenever the Doctor changes, there’s a backlash because that’s a character people love,” David explained. “People get very affectionate about the Doctor they knew. That happens every time because its a show that has very enthusiastic followers.”

“You know, sure, Jodie is from a different gender than anyone who has gone before, but that will be irrelevant almost immediately once she takes the part,” David concluded. “It’s about finding the right performer at the right time, and that’s Jodie, without a doubt.”

“Can you tell me anything else about Vice Admiral Holdo?” host Stephen pleaded. “I can tell you,” the 50-year-old Emmy-nominated actress said with a laugh, “I love her.”

“Is she a good guy? Is she a bad guy?” Stephen continued to insist, before Laura added “It”s complicated.”

Here’s what Laura decided to share: “To be an actor my whole life, but first, a kid who loved movies and walk on a set—costume’s ready, you’re mic’ed, you’re learning your lines, the camera’s rolling—you open your eyes to do a scene like any other work day, and it’s Star Wars? I could cry,” Laura earnestly expressed. “I thought I was going to pass out. It’s the greatest thing to ever happen to me.”

Stephen Colbert Didn't Want to Take His Show to Russia

Stephen Colbert shows his abs on the cover on InStyle‘s September issue, available August 11th.

Here’s what the 53-year-old television personality had to share with the mag:

On his trip to Russia: “I was like, ‘Yeah, I don’t want to do that’…There’s enough pressure with these jobs. You know, I kind of like doing theater, doing my monologue, talking with guests, going home, having an old-fashioned, eating some cashews, and watching Anderson Cooper with my wife.”

On dealing with his mental health early in his career: “In my late 20s, early 30s, I had a nervous breakdown. I was subject to panic attacks and stuff like that except when I was onstage. I would curl up in a ball on a couch backstage, and then I’d hear my cue coming up, and I would uncurl, go onstage, do the show, and then go offstage and curl up again.”

On how he feels about his show’s impact: “Today you’ll feel better, but these shows are cotton candy dropping in water, and I don’t pretend otherwise. I used to joke to Jon [Stewart] that we are shouting jokes into an Altoids can and throwing them off an overpass. Nobody remembers.”
