Melissa Benoist Returns to the Set of 'Supergirl' After Giving Birth - See the First Photos!

Melissa Benoist is back in action!

The 32-year-old actress was spotted on the set of her hit show Supergirl for the first time since giving birth to son Huxley back in the summer of 2020 on Friday (March 5) in Vancouver, Canada.

Melissa was seen suited up in her iconic costume, joined by her co-star David Harewood on the set.

Supergirl is sadly coming to an end: The CW announced in September that the Arrow spinoff will end with its upcoming sixth season. We know so far that this last season will consist of 20 episodes, and will premiere sometime in 2021. Find out more about the show’s ending.

Melissa Benoist Speaks Out After the News That 'Supergirl' Is Ending

Melissa Benoist is opening up about the end of an era.

The 31-year-old actress penned a message on social media on Tuesday (September 22) following the announcement that The CW was ending Supergirl after six seasons.

“To say it has been an honor portraying this iconic character would be a massive understatement. Seeing the incredible impact the show has had on young girls around the world has always left me humbled and speechless,” she wrote.

“She’s had that impact on me, too. She’s taught me strength I didn’t know I had, to find hope in the darkest of places, and that we are stronger when we’re united. What she stands for pushes all of us to be better. She has changed my life for the better, and I’m forever grateful. I’m so excited that we get to plan our conclusion to this amazing journey, and I cannot wait for you to see what we have in store. I promise we’re going to make it one helluva final season. ♥️ el mayarah 💪 @supergirlcw.”

'Supergirl' Is Coming to an End at The CW With Season 6

Supergirl is sadly coming to an end.

The CW announced on Tuesday (September 22) that the Arrow spinoff will end with its upcoming sixth season, THR confirmed.

The final season of the Melissa Benoist-led show will consist of 20 episodes, and will premiere sometime in 2021.

The new season of Supergirl is not part of The CW’s schedule in January, and will arrive whenever midseason 2021 is for the network.

“The move was designed to allow production to resume after leading lady Benoist returned from maternity leave,” THR reported.

“The decision to wrap the series arrives a year after The CW parted ways with Arrow, the show that ushered the younger-focused broadcaster into the world of DC Comics and launched a massive franchise. The move also means that The CW, a joint venture between CBS TV Studios and Warner Bros. TV, will say farewell to Supernatural and Supergirl this season.”

CW Renews All 13 Series For New Seasons Including 'Batwoman', 'Riverdale' & More

The CW had given new season orders to ALL of it’s current shows.

Batwoman and Nancy Drew have gotten their second season orders, along with veterans The Flash, Riverdale, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning and Supergirl.

All American, Charmed, Dynasty, In the Dark, Legacies and Roswell, New Mexico were also picked up for additional seasons on the network.

The only show left out was Katy Keene, a spinoff of Riverdale.

However, the show starring Lucy Hale, was given 13 additional scripts for it’s freshman season.

Melissa Benoist & Chris Wood Celebrate Supergirl's 100th Episode!

Melissa Benoist and Chris Wood share a happy look with each other at the Supergirl 100th Episode Celebration held at Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel on Saturday night (December 14) in Vancouver, Canada.

The cute couple were joined by their Supergirl co-stars Chyler Leigh, David Harewood, Katie McGrath, Jesse Rath, Nicole Maines, Julie Gonzalo, Andrea Brooks, Staz Nair, Elizabeth Tulloch, and Azie Tesfai.

Also in attendance were Executive Producer Greg Berlanti, President of Warner Bros Television Peter Roth, and CW Network President Mark Pedowitz.

Supergirl‘s 100th episode will be season five’s upcoming 13th episode, which is set to air in February 2020.

DC Heroes Unite To Save All Universes In 'Crisis On Infinite Earths' Crossover Event Starting Tonight!

The massive crossover event Crisis On Infinite Earths starts TONIGHT (December 8) during a brand new episode of Supergirl on The CW!

In the first part of the event, The Monitor (LaMonica Garrett) sends Harbinger (Audrey Marie Anderson) to gather the worlds’ greatest heroes – Supergirl (Melissa Benoist), The Flash (Grant Gustin), Green Arrow (Stephen Amell), Batwoman (Ruby Rose), White Canary (Caity Lotz), The Atom (Brandon Routh) and Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) – in preparation for the impending Crisis.

With their worlds in imminent danger, the superheroes suit up for battle while J’onn (David Harewood) and Alex (Chyler Leigh) recruit Lena (Katie McGrath) to help them find a way to save the people of Earth-38.

Crisis on Infinite Earths will span over five Arrowverse shows, including Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow, Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow. It will also feature three different Supermans and an appearance from Black Lightning‘s Cress Williams.

The CW Renews 10 Shows - Find Out What's Coming Back!

The CW just revealed that ten primetime shows are getting renewed for the 2019-2020 season!

The network made the exciting announcement on Thursday (January 31) during the 2019 Winter TCA Tour.

The CW’s strategy to expand its primetime schedule to six nights a week including Sunday has been “an unqualified success” said president Mark Pedowitz.

“The early renewal of these signature CW series gives us a head start on laying out the 2019-2020 season, and this is just the beginning. These shows provide a strong foundation for our multiplatform programming strategy, and we look forward to building on this with even more returning and new shows as we approach the May upfront.”
