Syesha Mercado now has both of her children back in her arms.

Following an eventful ordeal, the American Idol alum and her partner, Tyron Deener, have regained custody of their son, Amen’Ra.

Amen’Ra had been taken and put in foster care in February by CPS, after the couple took him to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla., because he was struggling to transition from breast milk to solid foods.

It was there that the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said hospital staff reported the child was suffering from malnutrition, and it was the reason for him to be taken from them.

Syesha shared the news of Amen’Ra‘s return to them, with the happy young boy in a car seat.

“AMEN’RA IS OFFICIALLY HOME!!!” she captioned, and added that they are required to undergo six months of supervision by the Department of Children and Families. “Every person that has been involved in this process — in keeping our son away from us — all those individuals will be held accountable.”

Syesha and Tyron‘s newborn daughter, Ast, had been taken away from them during a roadside welfare check in August. She was returned to the couple days later.

Both children were placed in the care of an estranged relative with Syesha and Tyron getting supervised visits.

Syesha Mercado‘s infant daughter is back in her custody, one week after CPS took her child away from her.

The 34-year-old former American Idol contestant took to Instagram on Friday (August 20) to announce that “Ast is home.”

Former American Idol contestant Syesha Mercado has lost custody of her newborn child, just five months after her first child was “legally kidnapped” by Child Protective Services.

The 34-year-old singer came in third place on the seventh season of American Idol back in 2008.

Five months ago, Syesha‘s 18-month-old son Amen’Ra was “forcefully and legally kidnapped” after she took him to the hospital for fluids while transitioning from breastfeeding to the bottle because of her pregnancy.

Syesha‘s GoFundMe page said, “On March 11th, our sun [sic] Amen’Ra was forcefully and legally kidnapped from us by CPS, who claim we refused a B12 shot that was a matter of life and death, which is an absolute lie. We never refused a B12 shot, and at no point was he on the verge of death.”

The AI Davids (Cook and Archuleta) have also been making the morning/talk show rounds, appearing on the Today show on Thursday as well.

If Syesha looked comfortable in front of the camera, it’s because she was a contestant on the short-lived ABC reality show, The One: Making a Music Star. After airing for four episodes, however, the show was pulled. R&B singer Louie Bello, who also was on The One, mentioned that Syesha was cut before a winner was crowned.

The five remaining American Idol contestants attend the launch party for BritWeek held at the British Consul General’s Official Residence in Los Angeles on Thursday.

This week marked the end of the road for American Idol finalist Carly Smithson on Wednesday after fans cast the fewest votes for her rendition of Superstar.

Simon remained positive, giving her words of encouragement. “I apologize for giving you a compliment last night, the kiss of death. You can leave with your head held high.”

Syesha Mercado, Jason Castro, Brooke White, David Archuleta and David Cook are the remaining contestants.
