The movie, produced and directed by Peter Berg, is an action-adventure film that takes place on the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. Inspired by Hasbro’s classic naval combat game, Battleship stars Taylor Kitsch as Lt. Alex Hopper, a Naval officer assigned to the USS John Paul Jones; Brooklyn Decker as Sam Shane, a physical therapist and Hopper’s fiancée; Alexander Skarsgard as Hopper’s older brother, Stone, Commanding Officer of the USS Sampson; Rihanna as Petty Officer Raikes, Hopper’s crewmate and a weapons specialist on the USS John Paul Jones; and international superstar Liam Neeson as Hopper and Stone’s superior (and Sam’s father), Admiral Shane.

Battleship hits theaters May 18, 2012.

Taylor Kitsch suits up for the premiere of his new movie, John Carter, held at Regal Cinemas L.A. Live on Wednesday (February 22) in Los Angeles.

The 30-year-old recently sat down with Access Hollywood to chat about the action flick – and the multiple on-set injuries he suffered playing the title character.

“Many [bumps and bruises]. Some groin tears to high ankle sprains, some good cuts,” Taylor revealed. “I would love a bruise on some days compared to what I was actually dealing with.”

“[But] I loved the challenge,” he added.

Alexander Skarsgard flashes a smile at Hasbro’s Battleship American International Toy Fair showroom on Monday (February 13) in New York City.

The 35-year-old actor was joined by his co-star Taylor Kitsch and director Peter Berg.

Taylor Kitsch shows off his shirtless physique in this new Super Bowl commercial for his upcoming film John Carter!

The 30-year-old actor plays the leading role in the action packed Mars-based movie due out in theatres on March 9 of this year!

Taylor‘s other film Battleship also debuted a trailer during the Super Bowl.

Alongside Taylor, Battleship also stars Alexander Skarsgard, Rihanna, Brooklyn Decker, and Liam Neeson. Click inside to see the trailer for the flick, which hits theatres on May 18 of this year.

Taylor Kitsch attends a press conference for his upcoming film, Battleship, at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo on Tuesday (January 31) in Tokyo, Japan.

The 30-year-old joined his co-star, Japanese actor Tadanobu Asano, and director Peter Berg in promoting the sci-fi action flick, which also stars Alexander Skarsgard, Liam Neeson, Brooklyn Decker, and Rihanna.

“So many variables come into play, obviously time consuming, you’re always fighting the light apparently when you’re shooting outisde,” Taylor told the Associated Press about filming the movie on water.

“It’s seamless the way they’ve done it,” he added about the end result.

The 30-year-old actor plays the title role in the action flick based on the classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs.

Synopsis: Transplanted to Mars, a Civil War vet (Kitsch) discovers a lush planet inhabited by 12-foot tall barbarians. Finding himself a prisoner of these creatures, he escapes, only to encounter a princess (Lynn Collins) who is in desperate need of a savior.
