Selena Gomez Compliments BFF Taylor Swift As One of the 'Greatest Songwriters'

Selena Gomez opened up about what she’s listening to during quarantine in a new interview with Apple Music.

Chatting with Zane Lowe, the 27-year-old singer dished on the songs she included on her “At Home With Selena Gomez” playlist and the reasons why.

One song on the playlist is Taylor Swift‘s “Lover”.

“There’s nothing really to say other than this is another song that shows her ability to take it back to the old, to also combine it with her challenging to do new things with her music,” Selena shared of the track.

She added that “I think that’s as pure that- I’ll always, not even biased, just think she is one of the greatest songwriters.”

“I guess this quarantine has given me time to just listen to all kinds of music,” Selena went on to say about the playlist, which includes a lot of storytelling songs. “This was more last minute, but as I was going through it, I realized that it does kinda have a reoccurring theme.”

She adds, “There’s so much storytelling in each of these songs. I sat back and I was like, that’s so interesting, because I have these pivotal songs that leave me in this trance and inspire me to then listen to other type of music…It’s about lyrics, strong lyrics, a lot of love and pain and then there’s just some party songs that just make me feel like I’m a kid again.”

Taylor Swift Puts Former Record Label on Blast for Releasing Old Album of Live Performances: 'They Need Money'

Taylor Swift is putting her former record label Big Machine on blast, as well as Scooter Braun following their highly publicized battle over her masters.

The 30-year-old “Me!” singer provided an update for fans on her Instagram on Thursday (April 23).

“Hey guys – I want to thank my fans for making me aware that my former record label is putting out an ‘album’ of live performances of mine tonight. This recording is from a 2008 radio show performance I did when I was 18. Big Machine has listed the date as a 2017 release but they’re actually releasing it tonight at midnight,” she wrote.

“I’m always honest with you guys about this stuff so I just wanted to tell you that this release is not approved by me. It looks to me like Scooter Braun and his financial backers, 23 Capital, Alex Soros and the Soros family and The Carlyle Group have seen the latest balance sheets and realized that paying $330 MILLION for my music wasn’t exactly a wise choice and they need money. In my opinion…just another case of shameless greed in the time of Coronavirus. So tasteless, but very transparent.”

Taylor recently performed this song for the first time live amid the pandemic.

Taylor Swift Performs 'Soon You'll Get Better' for First Time - Watch the Emotional Video

Taylor Swift has said that she would likely never perform her song “Soon You’ll Get Better,” but she debuted the song with an emotional performance on the One World: Together At Home special.

The 30-year-old singer wrote the song about her mom Andrea Swift‘s battle with cancer and the song is on her latest album Lover.

“We as a family decided to put this on the album, and it’s something I’m so proud of, but it’s just really hard,” Taylor told fans back in August 2019. “I can’t sing it. It’s hard to just emotionally deal with that song.”

“It was hard to write, it’s hard to sing. It’s hard to listen to for me, but sometimes music is like that,” she added.

Taylor Swift Cancels All Live Shows for 2020, Some 'Lover Fest' Shows to Be Rescheduled

Taylor Swift has announced that all of her live appearances and performances for 2020 have been canceled due to the ongoing health crisis.

The 30-year-old singer was scheduled to perform her Lover Fest concert around the world this summer, but she has made the difficult decision to cancel the shows.

“I’m so sad I won’t be able to see you guys in concert this year, but I know this is the right decision. Please, please stay healthy and safe. I’ll see you on stage as soon as I can but right now what’s important is committing to this quarantine, for the sake of all of us,” Taylor wrote on Twitter.

Taylor will be rescheduling the U.S. and Brazil shows for 2021, but it seems the other dates are canceled completely. There was a recent uproar over the way Ticketmaster has been handling refunds for postponed and rescheduled shows, but Taylor is assuring fans that they’ll be able to get their money back if they wish.
