Thandie Newton helps lead a flash mob for One Billion Rising on Thursday (February 14) in Parliament Square in London, England.

The 40-year-old actress helped raise her voice to protest violence against women.

“There was one horrific incident where I went back for a second audition,” Thandie told CNN about a time she was exploited as a teen. “The director asked me to sit with my legs apart; the camera was right positioned where it could see up my skirt.”

Thandie was then told to put her leg on the arm of the couch and think about making love. She learned years later that the director used the video to entertain crowds at parties.

Thandie Newton stuns in black lace on the red carpet at the 2013 EE British Academy Film Awards on Sunday (February 10) at the Royal Opera House in London, England.

The 40-year-old British actress was joined by her hubby Ol Parker for the big event.

The night before, Thandie attended the Charles Finch & Chanel’s Pre-BAFTA Dinner alongside her Mission: Impossible II co-star Tom Cruise.

The 40-year-old actress is a supporter of the One Billion Rising movement, which is a campaign to end violence, and a call for justice and gender equality for women.

The evening before, Thandie attended the London Rising event, a charity fundraiser for the campaign.

The movement was spearheaded by playwright Eve Ensler and the V-DAY campaign.
