Thandie Newton hits the stage at TEDGlobal 2011 earlier in the month.

The 38-year-old English actress, who wore a vintage dress, shared her experiences growing up in two distinct cultures and compared it to playing many different characters as an actress.

“When I act in a role, I inhabit another self, Thandie said. “I give it life for awhile and no matter how other these selves might be, there all related in me.”

Thandie Newton and Kerry Washington share a hug at V-Day’s Viva Vevolution! fundraiser held at Urban Zen on Wednesday (June 8) in New York City.

The actresses, 38 and 34, were joined by author and activist Eve Ensler for the celebration. Kerry and Thandie honored Haitian activist Myriam Merlet onstage at the event.

“Wonderful day with my @VDay v-board sisters. What amazing work…” Kerry wrote on her Twitter account.

Thandie Newton attends the UK premiere of Kung Fu Panda 2 held at the Vue Westfield on Sunday (June 5) in London, England.

The 38-year-old British actress brought along her two daughters Ripley and Nico, as well as one of their pals, to the premiere.

Thandie‘s film Retreat is set to be released later this year.

The thriller is about a couple (Newton and Cillian Murphy), who “escape from personal tragedy to an Island Retreat. Cut off from the outside world, their attempts to recover are shattered when a Man is washed ashore, with news of airborne killer disease that is sweeping through Europe.”

Thandie Newton arrives in style at the MET Ball held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday (May 2) in New York City.

The 38-year-old British actress, who wore a Stella McCartney dress, walked the red carpet with Jimmy Choo Chief Creative Officer Tamara Mellon.

Thandie and Tamara both wore Solange Azagury-Partridge jewelry. Thandie also accessorized with Jimmy Choo “Louisa” platform sandals from the Choo 24:7 Collection and the fashion house’s “Mini Tube” clutch.

The Costume Institute Gala Benefit celebrates the opening of the “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty” exhibition, featuring the late designer’s iconic work.

The night before, Thandie stepped out for the Oxfam Gala Screening of Equals on Film, which marked the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day.

Thandie Newton comes out to support the Oxfam Gala Screening of Equals on Film at Queen Elizabeth Hall on Sunday (March 13) in London, England.

The event, which took place during the Birds Eye View Film Festival, featured several short films about the lives, struggles, and achievements of women around the world.

Singer Annie Lennox and Colin Firth‘s wife, Livia Giuggioli, also attended the screening.

Thandie recently wrapped up production on the thriller Retreat, opposite Cillian Murphy and Jamie Bell.
