In a blink and you’ll maybe miss it moment, the original Ariel, Jodi Benson, pops up in the new live action version of The Little Mermaid.

In a new interview, the actress opened up about how her cameo came together and what it was like on the set, watching Halle Bailey take over the role of the red-headed mermaid.

Halle Bailey looks amazing in The Little Mermaid, but her hair carried a hefty price tag.

The 23-year-old actress and singer dyed her hair red to replicate Ariel’s signature look. However, she wanted to maintain her locs for the role.

The hairstylist behind engineering the look opened up about the process and why it cost approximately $150,000 and took upwards of 14 hours to complete.

One of the new songs added to The Little Mermaid for the new live-action film is “The Scuttlebutt,” which is performed by Awkwafina and Daveed Diggs.

Awkwafina voices the role of Scuttle, who is no longer a seagull for this movie, and Daveed voices the role of the beloved character Sebastian.

The song takes place near the end of the movie when Scuttle brings news to Sebastian that Ursula has transformed from the sea witch into a beautiful young woman named Vanessa in an effort to steal Prince Eric’s heart.

“The gossip! The buzz! The who-said-what-who-does-that, yeah, the Scuttlebutt!” Scuttle raps in the song.

The live-action version of Disney’s The Little Mermaid, starring Halle Bailey as Ariel and Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, is now in theaters.

Fans who are checking out the movie will likely want to know if they should stick around after the credits for an additional scene. Many movies these days, especially ones that are part of a franchise, will include extra footage at the end to tease future installments or to give audiences some bonus content.

We’re just one day away from The Little Mermaid officially hitting theaters!

The upcoming live-action remake of the beloved 1989 Disney animated movie will be released in theaters on Friday (May 26) starring Halle Bailey as Ariel, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, and Javier Bardem as King Triton.

While Melissa McCarthy will be playing the Ursula in her octopus form, she will not be playing Vanessa – the human persona that Ursula transforms into and uses Ariel’s stolen voice to hypnotize Prince Eric.

Vanessa will instead by played by Jessica Alexander.
