All fans of The Little Mermaid know that Ariel has six sisters in the original animated movie – and the live action is no different.

Halle Bailey‘s red-head mermaid still has six sisters, although their names have definitely changed.

Instead of Attina, Alana, Adella, Aquata, Arista, and Andrina, fans will now get to meet Mala, Indira, Caspia, Tamika, Perla and Karina.

All six sisters are featured and fleshed out in one of the movie’s books, “The Little Mermaid: Guide to Merfolk“, and Just Jared has put together this guide about who stars as the Daughters of Triton.

Earlier this week, fans started to notice once again that Scuttle wasn’t a seagull in the upcoming live action version of The Little Mermaid.

While it’s been touched on in previous interviews, there hasn’t been a full explaination for the change until now.

Director Rob Marshall opened up in a new interview with IndieWire about turning Scuttle into a Northern Gannet, which is able to dive underwater and stay there for some time.

Halle Bailey saw the viral videos of young black girls happily reacting to clips of the upcoming The Little Mermaid.

The 23-year-old singer/actress plays Ariel in the upcoming live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid which will be released on May 26.

Last September, Black families were sharing videos of their children being surprised and inspired by seeing Halle Bailey as Ariel.

The soundtrack for The Little Mermaid has been released!

Disney officially released the soundtrack for the upcoming live-action remake of the beloved classic on Friday (May 19).

The soundtrack features new renditions of the hit songs from the original 1989 animated movie – including “Part of Your World,” “Under the Sea,” and “Kiss the Girl” – and also includes a few brand new songs!
