Hugh Jackman‘s latest flick The Wolverine takes this weekend’s box office with a debut gross of $55 million!
According to THR, the X-Men spinoff fell a little under expected numbers, but is doing especially well overseas.
Coming in at number two, Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson‘s super scary flick The Conjuring brought in an additional $22 million in its second week of release.
The animated sequel Despicable Me 2 took third place with $16 million.
Rounding out the top five were Ryan Reynold‘s animated flick Turbo and the Adam Sandler comedy Grown Ups 2, which brought in $13 million and $11 million, respectively.
Meanwhile, a number of films did well at the speciality box office! Woody Allen‘s Blue Jasmine earned about $550,000 in only six theaters. Michael B. Jordan‘s Sundance favorite Fruitvale Station impressed, grossing $4.6 million for the weekend, while the indie coming-of-age dramedy The Way, Way Back took in $3.4 million.
