Damon Gupton Joins 'Criminal Minds' as Series Regular After Thomas Gibson's Firing

CBS has announced it has added Damon Gupton as the newest series regular on the hit show Criminal Minds.

The 43-year-old actor will make his debut during the eighth episode of the current season 12.

Damon will portray Special Agent Stephen Walker, who will help the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) track down spies.

“Our BAU family is growing,” executive producer Erica Messer said in a statement. “We’re excited to have Damon join the show and work alongside our amazing cast and crew.”

Damon‘s new role comes after previous cast member Thomas Gibson was fired for allegedly kicking writer-producer Virgil Williams.

Criminal Minds' Thomas Gibson Shares His Version of Story After Allegedly Kicking Writer

Thomas Gibson is speaking out with his side of the story after being fired from Criminal Minds for allegedly kicking writer-producer Virgil Williams.

“I feel like it took years to make a good reputation and a minute to damage it,” the 54-year-old actor told People. “We were shooting a scene late one night when I went to Virgil and told him there was a line that I thought contradicted an earlier line. He said, ‘Sorry, it’s necessary, and I absolutely have to have it.’”

Later, Thomas said he was sharing what Virgil said with some other actors.

“He came into that room and started coming towards me. As he brushed past me, my foot came up and tapped him on the leg. If I hadn’t moved, he would have run into me. We had some choice words, for which I apologized the next day, and that was it. It was over. We shot the scene, I went home – and I never got to go back,” Thomas said.

“My pride and reputation are hurt, but in the end I know the good work is what people will remember. I just need more opportunities to do good work and be a good guy,” Thomas added.

Criminal Minds' Shemar Moore Posts Crypic Video After Co-Star Thomas Gibson's Firing

It seems like Shemar Moore may have thrown some shade at his former Criminal Minds co-star Thomas Gibson.

The 46-year-old actor posted a rather cryptic video about “karma” after Thomas was fired from the show.

“Lot of birdies chirping out there; the gossip is real,” Shemar said in the since-deleted video. “I’ll just say this: I believe in karma. Good things happen to good people. Honest people. Hard-working people. Humble people. People who believe in basic goodness…Treat people how you expect them to treat you. Celebrate yourself and celebrate your blessings, as you should, but just know that you’re not better than anybody.”
