Ticketmaster is in hot water again.

A few months after the debacle of Taylor Swift‘s The Era’s Tour presale, the ticket vendor is in the hot seat again after fans were refused entry to a Bad Bunny concert in Mexico City over the weekend.

The hitmaker’s final stop of his World’s Hottest Tour turned away hundreds of fans who had tickets. Ticketmaster cited an “unprecedented number” of scalped tickets as the cause of the problem.

The promoter for Taylor Swift‘s upcoming The Eras Tour is responding to claims that they chose to sell tickets on Ticketmaster.

The statement comes one week after the Verified Fan pre-sale for Taylor‘s tour became a chaotic experience for many fans, with lots of people spending hours upon hours trying to buy tickets with many failing to get any.

The Department of Justice has even launched an investigation into Ticketmaster’s parent company Live Nation Entertainment to determine if they have abused their power in the live music industry.

AEG Presents, the promotion company working with Taylor, has released a statement in response to claims that they chose to use Ticketmaster to sell tickets.

The Department of Justice has launched an investigation into Ticketmaster‘s parent company Live Nation Entertainment amid the fiasco with Taylor Swift‘s ticket pre-sale.

The New York Times reports that the drama this week is not the cause of the investigation as it was already in the works.

“The inquiry predates the botched presale of Taylor Swift tickets this week and is said to focus on whether Live Nation has abused its power in the live music industry,” the outlet reported.

Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) called for the investigation back in March 2022.

“The status quo has resulted in ever-growing fees for consumers and poor consumer experiences when purchasing tickets for live events,” they said in a press release back then.
