Timothee Chalamet Gets Praise From 'Beautiful Boy' Writer Nic Sheff

Timothee Chalamet steps out for a reception for his film Beautiful Boy!

The 22-year-old Call Me by Your Name actor snapped some pics at the event held at Metrograph on Monday (December 10) in New York City.

He was joined by Nic Sheff, who, along with father David, wrote the best-selling pair of memoirs on which the film is based.

Petra Collins and Nathan Mitchell were also there to show their support.

Beautiful Boy chronicles the heartbreaking and inspiring experience of survival, relapse, and recovery in a family coping with addiction over many years.

“So proud of @tchalamet for this nomination,” Nic wrote on Instagram, referring to Timothee‘s Golden Globe nomination. “As someone who lived it, I’ve honestly never seen a more true, authentic portrayal of what it’s like to struggle with this disease and be trapped in that relapse cycle. The amount of humanity and nuance he brought to this performance is just astonishing. And at 22 (21 when he shot this) it seems like something off a miracle to me.”

“But beyond that, I just couldn’t be prouder of who Timmy is as a person and what an incredible role model he is for young people — and all people, actually,” Nic added. “Can’t wait to see what he does next — and so grateful for all the hard work he’s put in to this film and to being of real service to our community. He’s seriously a good dude. We’re lucky to have him…”

Timothee Chalamet Admits He 'Wept for an Hour' After Discovering 'Interstellar' Role Was Smaller

Timothee Chalamet flashes a smile alongside producer-director Lesli Klainberg while attending the Film Society of Lincoln Center screening of his latest film Beautiful Boy held at the Bedford Playhouse on Sunday (December 9) in Bedford, New York.

The 22-year-old actor recently opened up about the time he landed a supporting role in Christopher Nolan‘s 2014 science-fiction film Interstellar and how he felt after seeing it for the first time.

“When I did Interstellar, I saw that 12 times in theaters in IMAX. Christopher Nolan had a screening at Lincoln Square and he invited just some of the people from the cast, which is surreal because it’s a huge IMAX theater,” Timothee recalled on Actors on Actors with Emma Stone. “But it was me, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, and John Lithgow. And I really had no career at this point, so I was like the fraud a little bit in this room. And I saw it and I loved it, but then I went home with my dad and wept for an hour.”

“Because I just figured my part was bigger,” Timothee added. “They didn’t even cut anything. I just figured… I don’t know what I figured.”

Emma Stone & Timothee Chalamet Discuss Emma's 'The Favourite' Nudity Scene - Watch!

Emma Stone and Timothee Chalamet are on the cover of Variety‘s Actors on Actors issue, out now.

Here’s what the 30-year-old The Favourite actress and the 22-year-old Beautiful Boy star had to say…

Timothee, on Hollywood: “People want a mirror of the things they see — they want to see things shot in a way that doesn’t feel like the sheen of Hollywood is there, and they want to see stories that feel real. That’s what I think. What do you think?”

Emma, on Hollywood: “I totally disagree with you. We are on totally different pages, but whatever, it’s fine. Just kidding — you’re absolutely right. It’s an exciting time. There’s a lot of shift happening.”

Timothee, on The Favourite and Emma’s nudity scene: “It felt like The Favourite was a tone I hadn’t seen you in before. I saw an interview where you said it was a very conscious choice to have a scene with nudity because you felt like it was true to the script.”

Emma, on her The Favourite nudity scene: “I truly have never in my whole time working, which is not that long, I guess — it’s 12 or 13 years now — I have never, ever made a decision because I was like, ‘This is the kind of thing I need to do.’ Now I try to combine all three elements of the script, the character and the director, but at different times it’s either that I am dying to work with this director or the script is incredible, or the character. It’s always been about that and not about that it needs to be this big movie or I need to show my tits or whatever.”
