Dakota Johnson is speaking out about her grandmother Tippi Hedren‘s acting career and how it was “ruined” by director Alfred Hitchcock.
Tippi is most famous for her role in Hitchcock‘s 1963 film The Birds and 1964 film Marnie. She recently claimed in her memoir that she was sexually assaulted by the director several times while making those two films.

Dakota Johnson is opening up about what it was like knowing her grandmother, The Birds actress Tippi Hedren, had lions and tigers in her home.
The 30-year-old star chatted during an interview with Graham Norton about the big cats her grandmother and grandfather, Peter Griffith, had in their home. Dakota‘s mom Melanie Griffith, grew up alongside them all.
“She has 13 or 14 lions and tigers [now],” she shared. “But there used to be like 60 cats. But now, there’s just a couple.”
Dakota added that “by the time I was born they were all in huge compounds and it was safer. It wasn’t as totally psycho as it was when they first started.”
There’s a famous article of Tippi and her family with the big cats. It was published in 1971.
Just recently, Dakota opened up about how to deal with anxiety during quarantine.

Suspiria will be released in select theaters on Friday, October 26 before being released nationwide on November 2.

Dakota Johnson learned from the best before stepping into the spotlight!
The 28-year-old actress’ famous family – mom Melanie Griffith, dad Don Johnson and grandmother Tippi Hedren – offered her plenty of advice before she started her acting career.
Tippi in particular set an example for the ladies of the family when she refused to work with Alfred Hitchcock who mercilessly harassed her.
“She became an example of what to never let happen in my life. Hopefully, I’ve passed that on to Dakota �” to be strong in your work and in yourself,”
Melanie explained to THR.
Dakota added, “I was taught self-respect and grace and strength. Never before this moment did anyone in my family [explicitly] say, like, ‘Be careful.’ Sometimes, powerful men in Hollywood will try to whatever.”

Tippi Hedren is one of the most legendary actresses still alive today and she’s speaking out about the Harvey Weinstein scandal.
The 87-year-old actress opened up about how director Alfred Hitchcock sexually abused her in the memoir she released last year.
“I’m watching all the coverage on Weinstein. This is nothing new, nor is it limited to the entertainment industry. I dealt with sexual harassment all the time, during my modeling and film career. Hitchcock wasn’t the first. However, I wasn’t going to take it anymore, so I simply walked away and didn’t look back,” Tippi wrote on her Facebook account.
“Hitch said he would ruin my career and I told him to do what he had to do. It has taken 50 years, but it is about time that women started standing up for themselves as they appear to be doing in the Weinstein case. Good for them!” she added.
