Tom Cruise steps out after grabbing a business lunch at Toscana on Tuesday (April 23) in Brentwood, Calif.

Over the weekend, the 50-year-old actor’s new flick Oblivion raked in $38.2 million to top the box office.

Last week, Tom was all smiles while posing backstage with Cuba Gooding Jr. and Vanessa Williams at the Broadway play The Trip to Bountiful at The Stephen Sondheim Theater in New York City.

“Tom is the hardest-working, most focused, generous, passionate-about-the-form collaborator I could imagine,” J.J. Abrams recently shared about their collaboration on the 2006 film Mission Impossible III. “I was a first-time feature director, and before we started shooting Tom said, ‘I’m your actor; you’re the director.’ There was not a day on that movie when Tom was not supportive, encouraging, collaborative, excited. He never mandated anything. He never insisted on things going a certain way.”

Tom Cruise‘s latest sci-fi film Oblivion has topped this weekend’s box office with a gross of $38.2 million!

According to THR, this marks his best North American opening outside of the Mission: Impossible franchise.

Coming in at number two was the Jackie Robinson biopic 42, starring Chadwick Boseman and Harrison Ford, which brought in $18 million in its second week of release.

The number three slot went to The Croods with a $9.5 million gross, bringing its total so far to $154.9 million.

Rounding out the top five were Scary Movie 5, starring Ashley Tisdale, and G.I. Joe: Retaliation, which made $6.3 million and $6.8 million, respectively.

Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper‘s new film The Place Beyond the Pines expanded nationwide into more than 1,500 theaters this weekend, earning an additional $4.7 million.

Tom Cruise is all smiles while arriving for his appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart on Tuesday (April 16) in New York City.

The 50-year-old actor signed autographs and took pictures with his fans before promoting his new flick Oblivion, out in theaters on Friday (April 19).

The day before, Tom was seen attending a private screening of the movie in the Big Apple.

Tom Cruise is all smiles as he arrives at a private club after attending a screening of his latest film Oblivion on Monday (April 15) in New York City.

The 50-year-old actor has recently signed on to star in Yukikaze, an adaptation from Warner Bros. of a series of Japanese novels by Chohel Kamayashi, according to THR.

The film, being produced by Erwin Stoff and Tom Lassally, “sees a planetary defense force beat back an invasion of aliens using a wormhole over Antarctica, setting up bases on the aliens’ planet. Yukikaze is the name of the advanced reconnaissance fighter plane the hero uses on his missions.”

Tom Cruise is all smiles while making an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon at Rockefeller Center on Friday (April 12) in New York City.

The 50-year-old actor was spotted playing “Egg Roulette” with host Jimmy Fallon while promoting his new flick Oblivion.

The 50-year-old actor is currently promoting his new film Oblivion, in theaters April 19.

Tom will be heading to New York tomorrow for appearances on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

At the movie’s premiere the night before, Tom arrived early so that he could spend three hours signing autographs and greeting fans. We love his devotion to his fans!
