Grey’s Anatomy actor T.R. Knight and boyfriend Mark Cornelsen hold hands at the 2008 Chrysalis Butterfly Ball in Los Angeles on Saturday.

“Mark just moved here from San Francisco,” Knight gushed to Us Weekly. “To clarify, we are not having a commitment ceremony and I am not performing a commitment ceremony… Once you are given something that you were never allowed before, you realize how much of a second class person you were before. That is horrible and fantastic at the same time. It makes me want to sob and scream with joy all at the same time.”

“The floodgates have been opened they will never be closed,” Cornelsen, 19, added.

“[One of my Grey's costars] in particular, I won’t mention names told me, ‘You know I like him more than I like you, right?’” T.R. joked. “They said it about three or four times so it’s kind of not as funny as it was the first time anymore. [But] they love him. They’re like, ‘When is he coming?’ They want him there.”

“They’re all wonderful and so sweet,” Cornelsen said. “It’s amazing.”

Cornelsen wore a “WE ALL HAVE AIDS” t-shirt, which is a call to end HIV/AIDS stigma. It is a powerful display of the unity and solidarity we all share with the 40 million men, women, and children living with HIV/AIDS around the world.

Limited edition WE ALL HAVE AIDS T-shirts have been sold at all Barney’s, Theory, Scoop, Louis of Boston and Kenneth Cole New York stores in the U.S., Holt Renfrew in Canada and Selfridges in London.

T.R. just turned 35 this past Wednesday. HAPPY BELATED, MR. KNIGHT!

On Friday night, the casts of Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice joined together for a musical benefit at UCLA’s Royce Hall to benefit crew members who were affected by the writer’s strike. Here’s a brief rundown of the charity event dubbed “Good Medicine”:

– A taped message of McDreamy (Patrick Dempsey) kicked off the show. He said he was in Japan promoting his Disney film Enchanted.
– Sara Ramirez‘s booming voice brought the house to its feet with a performance of the song “Meadowlark.”
–TR Knight tackled the song “Losing My Mind/You Could Drive A Person Crazy” from Sondheim’s “Follies.” But he first begged for a little understanding,”It’s been 13 years since I’ve done something like this and I’m following Sara Ramirez.”
– Kate Walsh kicked off the second half of the show with a taped message. She said she was down in Australia promoting Private Practice. While getting a massage on her hotel balcony Kate joked, “We have all felt the affect of the strike especially in my neck and shoulders.”

Mark Cornelsen comes out to support boyfriend T.R. Knight as the pair make a mad dash to their car outside UCLA’s Royce Hall in Westwood, Calif. on Friday.

The couple and T.R.‘s Grey’s Anatomy costar Katherine Heigl (pictured below) made appearances at “Good Medicine,” a musical benefit to benefit crew members who were affected by the strike. Most of the Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice casts were in attendance.

“Mark grew up in a small town close to the Canadian border called Ferndale, Washington. Brought up in an extremely conservative, religious household, Mark received a very negative reception when he came out. His family’s religious views left absolutely no room for understanding or acceptance; there would be no compromise. Mark was ostracized from their lives, and he was left to lead a life of independence at the age of sixteen.

Donating back to his community and excelling academically were always top priorities while in high school. Mark graduated from high school a year early by attending college courses, and he is currently working multiple jobs to help fund his education. He is involved with the ONE campaign to provide AIDS and poverty education globally and is establishing a local chapter. He is eager to become more involved with GLSEN and many GLBT organizations within the Bay Area in the coming months.

Mark is attending San Francisco State University in the fall of 2007 where he will earn a degree in Resort/Commercial Recreation Management with a minor in International Business. He aspires to be the director of an international luxury resort.”

Grey’s Anatomy stars Katherine Heigl and future bridesman T.R. Knight support the Writer’s Guild of America’s “Diversity Day” at Paramount Pictures studio on Wednesday in Los Angeles, Calif.

Justin Chambers and wife Keisha are joined by co-star Sara Ramirez, Orlando Jones and Isaiah Washington.

Knight holding hands with a woman, Ellen Pompeo carrying a Whole Foods grocery shopping bag, Chandra Wilson holding hands with son Michael (he turns two this month), Sara Ramirez drinking from a bottle of water, and Patrick Dempsey leaving the set to grab lunch at Farfalla Trattoria Italiana and pick up a newspaper.

The cast that smokes together, um, you can finish that sentence.
