Sarah Palin phoned up People magazine earlier today to publicly share how proud she is of her teenage daughter, who gave birth to Tripp Johnston three days ago.

The 44-year-old Alaska Governor had this to share about her eldest daughter Bristol and her fiancé Levi Johnston: “You need to know that both Levi and Bristol are working their butts off to parent and going to school and working at the same time. They are certainly not high school dropouts. [Any suggestion otherwise] harms Bristol‘s reputation and Levi‘s reputation and their chances for good work opportunities.”

Levi is studying to be an electrician.

STOP TRIPPIN’

Bristol Palin, the 18-year-old daughter of former Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, gave birth to son Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston on Sunday in Palmer, Alaska.

“We think it’s wonderful,” Colleen Jones, the sister of Bristol‘s grandmother Sally Heath, told People. “The baby is fine and Bristol is doing well. Everyone is excited.”

The baby’s father, Levi Johnston is studying to be an electrician and has been dating Bristol for three years. The couple will reportedly tie the knot this summer, but the in meantime, Levi has Bristol tattooed on his finger.

Bristol is taking correspondence courses to obtain her high school diploma.
