The 37-year-old tennis pro took to Facebook to share how “heartbroken” she after a 78-year-old man died from the crash.

“I am devasted and heartbroken by this accident. My heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of Jerome Barson and I continue to keep them in my thoughts and prayers,” Venus wrote.

Earlier this week, Florida police said that Venus is at fault for the accident for “violating the right of way” of the other driver.

Venus has not been issued any citations or traffic violations for the crash.

Venus Williams at Fault for Fatal Car Crash, Police Say

Venus Williams was involved in a fatal car crash on June 9 and now the police say she was at fault for the accident.

The tennis player was traveling north in a backed-up intersection in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and another car traveling west crashed into her vehicle. The driver’s husband, a 78-year-old man, suffered a traumatic head injury and died in the hospital two weeks later. The driver suffered several broken bones.

“[Venus] is at fault for violating the right of way of [the other driver],” the police report said, according to TMZ.

A lawyer for Venus released a statement in which the tennis star expressed her condolences to the family of the deceased.

Ms. Williams entered the intersection on a green light,” the lawyer said. “The police report estimates that Ms. Williams was traveling at 5 mph when Mrs. Barson crashed into her. Authorities did not issue Ms. Williams with any citations or traffic violations. This is an unfortunate accident and Venus expresses her deepest condolences to the family who lost a loved one.”
