Verne Troyer's Cause of Death Released

The actor, who passed away at the age of 49 back in April, died of “sequelae of alcohol intoxication” in a suicidal manner, the coroner said on Wednesday (October 10), via THR. Sequelae indicates a condition that is a consequence of a previous disease or injury.

Mike Myers is paying tribute to his co-star Verne Troyer after his death.

The 54-year-old actor shared a touching statement on Saturday (April 21) to his Austin Powers co-star after news of his passing broke.

“Verne was the consummate professional and a beacon of positivity for those of us who had the honor of working with him,” Mike said in a statement to Us Weekly. “It is a sad day, but I hope he is in a better place. He will be greatly missed.”

Verne Troyer Dead - Mini-Me from 'Austin Powers' Dies at 49

Verne Troyer, the actor best known for playing Mini-Me in the Austin Powers franchise, has died at the age of 49.

The actor’s team confirmed the sad news with a statement on his Facebook account.

Verne was taken to the hospital last week and was treated for possible alcohol poisoning. He has struggled with alcoholism for several years.

“It is with great sadness and incredibly heavy hearts to write that Verne passed away today,” the statement read. “Verne was an extremely caring individual. He wanted to make everyone smile, be happy, and laugh. Anybody in need, he would help to any extent possible. Verne hoped he made a positive change with the platform he had and worked towards spreading that message everyday.”

“He inspired people around the world with his drive, determination, and attitude. On film & television sets, commercial shoots, at comic-con’s & personal appearances, to his own YouTube videos, he was there to show everyone what he was capable of doing. Even though his stature was small and his parents often wondered if he’d be able to reach up and open doors on his own in his life, he went on to open more doors for himself and others than anyone could have imagined. He also touched more peoples hearts than he will ever know.”

Verne Troyer Rushed to Hospital 'Drunk & Suicidal' After Friend Calls 911

Verne Troyer has been rushed to the hospital after a friend called police, claiming the 49-year-old actor was “drunk and suicidal.”

The Austin Powers star was transported to the hospital on Monday night (April 2).

The caller reportedly described Verne as being “extremely upset, drunk and suicidal.” Police and the fire department showed up on the scene, transporting Verne to the hospital for possible alcohol poisoning, according to TMZ.

He is reportedly being held for 72 hours for evaluation.

Verne was hospitalized almost exactly a year ago for alcoholism.
