Oscar Isaac Lands Villain Role in 'X-Men: Apocalypse'!

Oscar Isaac is going from one major franchise to another one – he just landed the lead villain role in the upcoming film X-Men: Apocalypse, according to TheWrap!

The 35-year-old actor just wrapped up work on Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens and he will begin production on X-Men in the spring.

Apocalypse is going to highlight the romance between Jennifer Lawrence‘s Mystique and Michael Fassbender‘s Magneto. There will of course be plenty of other mutants in the mix and casting is underway for the roles of young Jean Grey and Cyclops with some big names involved!

Chloe Moretz, Elle Fanning, and Hailee Steinfeld are all in contention for the role of young Jean Grey in Bryan Singer‘s X-Men: Apocalypse, according to The Wrap!

The film is also eyeing Ben Hardy, Charlie Rowe, and Timothee Chalamet for the role of young Cyclops in the film, which is scheduled to start filming in the spring of 2015.

A source shared that Chloe and Elle met with Bryan in recent weeks as he starts searching for the perfect Jean Grey, who will also appear in future X-Men movies.

Bryan Singer Officially Directing 'X-Men: Apocalypse'

Bryan Singer is officially set to direct the upcoming movie X-Men: Apocalypse, according to Deadline.

The 49-year-old director previously helmed the first two movies in the X-Men franchise and then returned for this year’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, which combined casts from the original film and the reboot. The most recent film is the so far the most successful one in the franchise’s history with a worldwide gross of $746 million.

Bryan‘s participation in the movie had long been rumored while he was facing claims of sexual abuse from a man named Michael Egan, who finally dropped the lawsuit last month.

Production on X-Men: Apocalypse will begin early next year and a release date has been set for May 27, 2016.

'Deadpool' Movie Gets Release Date, Will Ryan Reynolds Star?!

The long-awaited X-Men spin-off Deadpool has finally been set into motion and it just got a release date of February 12, 2016.

Twentieth Century Fox and Marvel Comics are teaming up for the new film and Tim Miller will be making his feature film directorial debut with the movie. He previously did the visual effects for the cult favorite Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.

Ryan Reynolds, who played the role in the film X-Men Origins: Wolverine, is rumored to play the part, but he is not yet confirmed. Some test footage recently leaked and Ryan actually commented on it.

“There was such an overpowering reaction to the footage, you sort of feel like, ‘Oh, so we weren’t crazy for our reasons for loving this character, for loving this role.’ It’s interesting to see the power of the Internet. It’s awe-inspiring, actually,” Ryan told the Niagara Falls Review. “And it’s neat that Twitter and Facebook and Instagram can move mountains when used in the right way.”

Hugh Jackman is all smiles as he suits up to attend the premiere of his latest film X-Men: Days of Future Past held at the Roppongi Hills Arena on Tuesday (May 27) in Tokyo, Japan.

The 45-year-old actor was joined at the event by actress Ayame Gouriki, who voices Jennifer Lawrence‘s role as Mystique in the Japanese version of the flick.

“Tokyo here we come!,” Hugh tweeted earlier in the day. “Can’t wait to celebrate with you #Tokyo #xmen #xmenlive #fox.”

'X-Men: Days of Future Past' Dominates Memorial Day Weekend Box Office with Whopping $110 Million Opening!

X-Men: Days of Future Past is set to take the top spot at the Memorial Day Weekend box office, with a impressive $110 million gross!

According to THR, the critically-acclaimed franchise film, featuring a star-studded cast of Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, and more, is on track to bring in an amazing $281.1 million globally, making it the best debut of any X-Men movie and the top opening ever for a Fox film, including Avatar!

Staying strong at No. 2 was Godzilla, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bryan Cranston, and Elizabeth Olsen, which brought in an additional $31.4 million.

The new Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler comedy Blended came in third with a $14.2 million opening, a little below expectations.

Rounding out the top five were Neighbors, starring Seth Rogen and Zac Efron, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, and Jamie Foxx, which brought in $13.9 million and $7.8 million, respectively.
