'X-Men' TV Series in the Works at Fox!

A new television pilot based on the X-Men franchise has been ordered by Fox!

The currently untitled series will follow “two ordinary parents who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive,” according to Variety.

Matt Nix is writing the pilot and he will executive produce alongside Bryan Singer, Simon Kinberg, and more.

“Developing a Marvel property has been a top priority for the network — and we are so pleased with how Matt Nix has led us into this thrilling universe,” said David Madden, president, entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. “There’s comic book adventure, emotional and complicated relationships and a rich, existing mythology from which to draw. With the brilliant production crew behind this project, it has all the makings of a big, fun and exciting new series.”

Marvel’s head of television, Jeph Loeb, also released a statement: “Marvel Television is thrilled to be co-producing with 20th Century Fox Television on our first project. Matt’s a huge fan of X-Men and his take on X-Men, with its rich characters and high-stakes adventure, is exactly the show we want on Fox. It’s a great team of creative producers who will be making something entirely unique.”

Fox Apologizes for 'X-Men' Billboard of Mystique Being Strangled

Fox has released a statement to apologize for an X-Men: Apocalypse billboard that shows Jennifer Lawrence‘s character Mystique being strangled by the male title villain.

Rose McGowan publicly slammed the studio for approving the image as promotional material as it shows violence against women.

“In our enthusiasm to show the villainy of the character Apocalypse we didn’t immediately recognize the upsetting connotation of this image in print form,” the studio told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement. “Once we realized how insensitive it was, we quickly took steps to remove those materials. We apologize for our actions and would never condone violence against women.”
