Sofia Vergara: I Had Thyroid Cancer at 28

Sofia Vergara takes a break from reportedly filming a Pepsi commercial at the Fontainebleau on Monday (November 14) in Miami, Fla.

The 39-year-old actress recently revealed that she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer when she was 28.

“I was very young. and when they tell you that word, it’s, like, ‘What are you talking about?’” Sofia shared on Nightline. “You always think, ‘death.’ That’s all you think when they tell you that. So it was, it was pretty scary.”

“When you have a responsibility, like a kid or like a family, you cannot give yourself the luxury of going, getting depressed,” she added. “So I think it’s more like a unconscious thing of just, you know, keep – let’s keep going, let’s keep going.”
