Model Joan Smalls on Beyonce’s ‘Yonce’ Video: No One Knew I Could Move Like That!

Joan Smalls gets a gorgeous close up on the cover of Glam Belleza Latina‘s Spring 2014 issue, on newsstands March 18.

Here’s what the 25-year-old model had to share with the mag:

On if she had dreamed of being a model growing up: “Oh no. I grew up on a farm in Puerto Rico and wanted to be a veterinarian. I was always playing with animals! But…people would tell my parents that I should model.”

On her appearance in Beyonce‘s “Yonce” video: “Some were like, ‘I didn’t know Joan could move like that!'”

On her heritage: “[P]eople don’t realize that when you’re Latin, you’re so diverse. I am black. I am Latin. I am Spanish. You know? It’s a little bit of everything, and that’s beautiful. So, everybody, claim me. I’m fine with that!”
