Scott Semmelmann Dead at 47 After Crash in Sprint Car Practice

Sprint car driver Scott Semmelmann has died at age 47 after being involved in a car crash during a practice session on Saturday evening (September 20) in Wisconsin.

Scott was practicing for a race at the Beaver Dam Raceway when his car “made contact with another car during the second practice session, flipped three times and hit the outside wall,” according to the Associated Press.

This was the first time that Scott was set to race this season. The race ended up being canceled.

Just one month ago, another sprint car racer was killedKevin Ward Jr. was run over by competitor Tony Stewart after stepping out of his car during the race and lunging at the other car.
