Elle Fanning Joins Diego Luna in Sci-Fi Pic ‘IO’

Elle Fanning heads out of the gym on a gloomy Saturday afternoon (February 28) after a workout in Los Angeles.

The 16-year-old actress has joined the sci-fi film, IO, it was announced recently.

She’ll star alongside Diego Luna in the film, which is set to start production sometime this year, and tells the story of a girl’s coming of age while examining the dangers of humanity’s current relationship with the planet.

Elle will play the teen surviving as one of the last people on an abandoned post-cataclysmic Earth, who is racing to find a cure for her poisoned home world before the last shuttle off the planet to the distant human space colony leaves her stranded.
