Rooney Mara Was Set to Be Part of HBO's Shelved 'Utopia'

Rooney Mara stops to sign some autographs after she and her boyfriend Charlie McDowell viewed a movie at ArcLight Cinemas on Thursday (August 13) in Hollywood.

According to Deadline, the 30-year-old actress had joined the cast of HBO’s Utopia, but the entire project has been shelved.

The cast was also said to include Colm Feore, Eric McCormack, Dallas Roberts, Jason Ritter, Brandon Scott and Agyness Deyn.

Utopia director David Fincher was not able to reach a budget agreement with the network and the actors were released from their contracts.

Since HBO owns the rights to the show, it is possible for filming to proceed at a later date with a new director.
