'Star Wars' Is Being Boycotted By Racists, J.J. Abrams Responds
The highly anticipated film Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens is making great strides for diversity with having a black male lead (played by John Boyega), though some racist people are trying to tear down the film with a boycott.
“#BoycottStarWarsVII because it is anti-white propaganda promoting #whitegenocide,” one tweet read on Monday.
Racist tweets were sent out using the #BoycottStarWarsVII hashtag and it led to director J.J. Abrams defending the film right before the trailer launch.
“We cannot wait to share the trailer with you tonight. I don’t care if you’re black, white, brown, jawa, wookiee, jedi, or sith. I just hope you like it!” J.J. wrote in a handwritten note posted to Twitter.
