Twitter Changing 'Favorites' to 'Likes' with a New Heart Icon

Twitter is changing the old-standard “favorite” star button to a “like” heart, the social media site announced today (November 3).
“We are changing our star icon for favorites to a heart and we’ll be calling them likes. We want to make Twitter easier and more rewarding to use, and we know that at times the star could be confusing, especially to newcomers. You might like a lot of things, but not everything can be your favorite,” the Twitter blog announced.
“The heart, in contrast, is a universal symbol that resonates across languages, cultures, and time zones. The heart is more expressive, enabling you to convey a range of emotions and easily connect with people. And in our tests, we found that people loved it,” the blog post continued. They also announced the news in a video, which you can watch below.
Fans did not seem too receptive to the idea, adding comments such as, “Can we talk about this for a second?,” “nooooooooooooooo this is awful,” “this absolutely reeks of panic FYI,” and “but not everything we “favorite” we “like”. Sometimes it’s just like bookmark-ing a tweet. Oh well, I’ll miss the star.”
