Cate Blanchett Was Set to Play Jessica Chastain’s Role in 'The Martian'

It was recently revealed that the 46-year-old actress was supposed to be in The Martian!

“Cate last year, she was going to play in The Martian. She was going to be the captain, Jessica [Chastain] doesn’t know that,” director Ridley Scott explained.

He added that unfortunately, “She couldn’t do it, she couldn’t fit it in.”

We think Jessica did an excellent job in the film instead!
